So I run 7680x1440 with sli titan's. They are starting to show there age and I figure I could upgrade to something faster that uses less power.I play rpg's and the borderlands franchise and need for speed stuff. I have another machine with sli 680's running 5760x1080 and I picked up a 1060 for it as an upgrade so we will see how that goes. Has sli gotten that bad?

What refresh rate? If 60Hz, you may be alright with one 2080 Ti.

I was previously on 7680x1440 and used 2080 Ti SLI/NVLink and was getting good performance (around 90 fps in new games maxed).

However, one of the monitors died and I decided to try ultrawide rather than replace it. I'm really happy with the decision.

In my case, I'm at 2560x1080, which is a bit low res but I wanted the faster refresh rate. You might want to look at the 3440x1440 ultrawides like the Alienware.

The lower resolution really helps a lot with the performance, and it still looks great, arguably better without the bezels. And you can drive it with a single card, I'd say a 2080 at least but the 2080 Ti is a good choice.

Otherwise you will need SLI/NVLink, which is a hit or miss and the money would be better spent on the monitor (unless you need triple screen for work or something not gaming).

Yeah I love the triple monitor setup,I've been running it since I had tri gtx470 then to 680 sli and titan sli. I don't feel the need to replace the monitors and they are 60hz. I'm ok with the 60hz as long as it's pushing 60 plus frames a second as long as there is no stuttering, which was real bad wen I tried crossfire ages ago. The reality is Iam not playing the latest AAA titles , I haven't even been gaming the last few years.

Not sure many people are still rocking Surround, especially at that resolution.

Your best bet is getting the 2080 Ti and see if it meets your needs. Most likely that will be good and you will be all set.

There are a few unoptimized games that will still struggle (like Deus Ex MD) but for the most part you should be good for most games assuming you can be comfortable tweaking settings.
