Hi,

What diameter heatshrink is best for the individual fan wires? I need to solder a custom motherboard header connector.

Thanks

Usually you go for one that's slightly larger than the wire. Some heatshrink is a 2:1 and some a 3:1 and I'm sure other ratios too. Some also have a glue type substance inside that more or less waterproofs your wires.

In the end the diameter should be around 1.75:1 of your wire.

Here's what you need to know.

MDPC-X makes the best sleeve and heatshrink you can buy.
I've used this guy's stuff for the past 8 years, back when you had to order it from Germany.

They have US sellers now. Mod-one.com sells MDPC-X stuff here in the US.
