I'm curious why CPU-Z reports HD2000 graphics on my i5-2500k/P8Z68V Pro?

The 2500k has HD3000 graphics.

Probably an error in software programming. I can assure you 110% that you have 3000 graphics on your processor. Dont worry any.

i have i3-2105 with HD 3000 Graphics and i show the same error.

Of course, HD 3000 is nothing to brag about - last column at 720p

HD 3000 has 12 execution units. HD 2000 has 6

HD 2000 sux badly for anything resembling modern 3D gaming

Bottom line, it sounds like the functionality of the HD graphics will depend on what it's being used for. For typical general purpose use, my experience thus far is that HD3000 graphics are fine. But I don't game on the PC so that is probably going to be the main difference. I have no idea what users of sophisticated video/photo software will experience or need.

I've been using Intel IGPs since the i810 with 4MB VRAM. They are perfectly fine for office use and light desktop scenarios.

Agreed. That being said, is there any advantage to bumping up the default BIOS iGPU from 64MB to higher numbers? I have lots of ram to work with (12GB).

The Intel® HD 2000 Graphics are fine in a normal business/home environment. For light gaming I would say that you may be able to get away with the Intel HD 3000 Graphics. For heavy gaming then you are going to want to add a good 3rd party dedicated video card. With both the Intel HD 2000 and 3000 graphics performance is going to be influenced by how much memory you have assigned to run them. The maximum amount of memory that they can support is 1.7GB. Is there a quick and easy way to test how increasing the iGPU memory affects operation? I bumped mine to 256MB but can't really tell anything different from the default 64MB setting.
