Hawaii is very powerful..

Clearly this is confirmation that the 290x is equal to 4x titans. Alert the media.

LOLOL wut?

Have we seen a single benchmark from someone like Anand or a reputable third party?

If Amd did release such a powerful card, they be ahead of Nvidia for all of next year easy.
I doubt it. You never know if they've got some things up their sleeve that they're withholding and keeping extremely secret. If you move forward slowly and gradually, you can juice the market for $$$. If you make too big steps and move too far forward in short time, you're eliminating a lot of opportunities to make a lot more money for the long run.

And since nobody knows, it only looks natural the way things are going. Not saying that they (AMD and NVIDIA) have some things up their sleeves in case one of them went too far, but it is entirely realistically possible and probable. In the end, it's all about business.

After watching the video of BF4 Angry Seas running 4K at GPU14 event on single AMD R9-290X, the experience of GCN with Mantle will be like F14 on afterburners.

prone to self destructing?

The performance of the TF30 engine became an object of criticism. John Lehman, Secretary of the Navy in the 1980s, told the U.S. Congress that the TF30/F-14 combination was "probably the worst engine/airframe mismatch we have had in years" and that the TF30 was "a terrible engine";[31][33] 28% of all F-14 accidents were attributed to the engine. A high frequency of turbine blade failures led to the reinforcement of the entire engine bay to limit damage from such failures. The engines also had proved to be extremely prone to compressor stalls, which could easily result in loss of control, severe yaw oscillations, and could lead to an unrecoverable flat spin. At specific altitudes, exhaust produced by missile launches could cause an engine compressor stall; leading to the development of a bleed system to temporarily reduce engine power and block the frontal intake during missile launch. With the TF30, the F-14's overall thrust-to-weight ratio at maximum takeoff weight is around 0.56, considerably less than the F-15A's ratio of 0.85; when fitted with the General Electric F110 engine, an improved thrust-to-weight ratio of 0.73 at maximum weight and 0.88 at normal takeoff weight was achieved.[34]

might of wanted to use another aircraft for that analogy

might of wanted to use another aircraft for that analogy

To be fair, when referencing an aircraft, most tend to use the most recent version, which were were the F14B and then F14/D Super 'Cats..These both used the superior F110 engine that didn't suffer from the issues the F14A did..The F100/110 was used in in many jets, mainly our F15/F16s..

the image is not a B or D
and even the B and D has issues with its engine and airframe and pilots where instructed to not use full power or afterbuner unless they had no other choice
guess that means wait for the refresh lol

Considering they have actual hardware on hand and i'm guessing have tested at 4k there might be a hint of truth in the results - Radeon has always seemed to scale better as the resolution increased.

Just remember that the Blackbird can only fly at close to 100% otherwise it leaks out all of its fuel. Idle problems and such :p

Only if the silicon fuel tank seals haven't been serviced after it's been at or close to max speed due to air friction induced high temperatures.

But then again, what good is all that power if you're not going to use it to the max.

Could be possible with mantle running. Could double the performance of the video card while running with mantle.
I'm fairly optimistic about Mantle but even I don't think its going to double performance over the DX11 renderer.

An extra 20% performance is much more realistic but even that has been called overly optimistic by others FWIW.
