Well, I have Windows 7 on my mac. Despite that windowss runs very slowly, I can still manage to play Starcraft 2 without any major problem. But TF2 on the other hand, stutters quite a lot even though I had my settings down to the lowest. I have the early 2010 15" mbp. I played through Mass Effect 2 on it which made me wonder what exactly is the problem.

aside from the obvious question of why youre playing TF2 in windows, whats your specs on the mbp?

That's a good point -- I had totally forgotten that it works natively in mac os x, and actually runs really well. My brother played on my mom's iMac for a while before we built him a gaming machine and it worked pretty smoothly (after we plugged in a real mouse -- the magic mouse is rubbish in games).

I had everything down to the lowest (including res).

Here's the spec.

TF2 for mac runs even slower than the windows version on the same machine. You get the idea.

I think the problem lies in the very tiny vram it has. Is there a way to get around it?

should be ok

which one?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.4GHz and 2.53GHz configurations; or 512MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.66GHz configuration

At low res you should be fine. I used to play TF2 on a Pentium centrino 1.4ghz Randeon 9700 pro laptop.

Which Cpu do you have and how much ram?

Try disabling multicore rendering. Set shader version to DX9c (not the lowest). Turn off vsync.
