I have has this card MSI 1060 3gb for a while now and the card occasionally, every few days crashes, with black screen and loss of audio. The video input comes back (no audio) and a message comes up that the Nvidia graphics card driver has crashed.
This happens on totally random occasions and i cannot replicate it, it just happens when it wants to. Updated drivers several times and the issue persists. The case has good airflow and the card is not overheating, power supply is fine, pretty much checked everything.
I did look around and this seems to be an obscure thing no real solution.

Today after a crash I noticed artifacts while scrolling after it recovered.

Anyone have any similar experience with a card with a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.

Sounds like something is overheating... did you check temps?

Just an update it crashed, In after burner it shows power % as a number is 37,051,192 % , fan drops to 0%, core and mem clock max out for the period the screen is black. Crash is: Nvidia Kernel Mode Driver has stopped responding and has recovered.
Might need to send the card in for RMA? I would hate to send it and they don't get the same problem.

Run Precison XOC on the aggressive curve.
What are the temps are you are getting?
IF anything reinstall Windows 10 if you are running a older version of Windows just upgrade to 10.

Thanks for the reply guys, temps are not an issue. It will crash with only Firefox open, temps at 35c, randomly. I have windows 7, not installing win 10 in the near future.
On a side note is Nvidia not optimizing drivers for win 7 anymore?

I'm not sure NVidia further optimises drivers any more, other than to fix bad code the game devs write - as they have always been forced to otherwise games dont work well.
There is no competition to push the boundaries so they dont do that now.

Get a Windows 10 key off ebay for 20.00 print out the serial and you might be surprised.
Windows 7 is around 9 years old to date.

He is right to stick with Windows 7, windows 10 is a pita, hassle and a liability.

try bumping the voltage on the card a bit in afterburner see if that stabilizes it. if not it sounds like you've got faulty vram, rma time.
