has anyone jumped (skydiving) with a DSLR before?

If so, what precautions did you have to put into place so that such an expensive piece of equipment doesn't fly out into pieces or out of your reach? :? Just curious. I'm sure people have taken DSLRs on jumps before

It's tied to the helmet. When I jumped a couple of years ago, the camera man had his dSLR affixed to his helmet, not sure if it's an available product, or custom made. It was controlled by a remote trigger on his arm.

If you're going to try and do something like this, it seems like it would behoove you to use a piece of gear designed for it. I'd probably recommend something like the GoPro Hero 3. You can wear more than one (chest, helmet, hand, foot, back, whatever), do videos and or photos, they're lightweight, you don't have to worry about damaging them, and if you lose one, it's not a big cost in comparison with any decent dSLR.
