I am running win 7 and 1 of my drives isnt working right. I have 2.
1 [ sata ] for os
the other [ide] for storage
the storage drive has stoped working in windows.
I have to boot with it unpluged or the win 7 tries to check it and after about 20 mins will finnally boot in to the desktop.
I can see the drive in my computer but not extract any files from it ,computer hangs trying to read it.

What software do i us?. Ive tried partition wizard and can see all my files but it wont fix anything.,seems it wont read in windows. I will try to put it on a xp box tommarow.
I can see all the files i want removed with partition wizard but i cant extract them..

Help !!

thanks,
Randy

Depending on its age, the storage drive may be on its last legs.

Instead of inserting it into another box, consider grabbing a new internal (or external) HDD and a IDE-to-USB adapter (or an external HDD enclosure). Connect the storage drive to the adapter and, assuming that you're able to access it, transfer the contents over to the new HDD.

External enclosure, IDE-USB adapter, or XP box... whichever is easiest for you. If you can't access the contents, try something like GetDataBack. Copy all your files while you can, if you can. ;)
