Half Life 3 in the works?

I'm a gaming fool well into my 40s. I just hope I live long enough to play the next Mass Effect game. If Valve actually does HL3 in the meantime, I can die relatively happy. :)
You just have to outlive Gabe, then MS will buy Valve and make HL3. You probably aren't going to like it though.

In all honesty, I thought HL2 was vastly overrated. The only part that felt as good as the original was the Citadel. The ending was an insult. Episode 2 was a pretty good expansion, though.

Just turned 50 in November and still gaming strong.
If I had a buck for every time HL3 was said to be coming shortly, I could pay people to play my games for me. :ROFLMAO:

I've always thought Episodes One and Two were better than HL2. I don't care if the third game/episode/whatever is a technological and cultural touchstone like the first two games were. I just want the cliffhanger at the end of Episode Two to be resolved. The explanation in the 20th anniversary video from Valve for not releasing the Episode Three when it was nearly done just pissed me off.

Actually...Half Life Alyx DID take on HL2 EP2s ending and completely changed it...take a look at its ending on Youtube.

The physics gameplay was pretty groundbreaking for the time. Although I enjoyed Doom 3 more.

That being said, HL2 and of course the orange box updates made Source engine the go to for many years of quality games, which to me is where most of the value of HL2 was. The mods.

I don't even remember the details of HL2 or Episode 1 and 2's ending...I just remember Alyx's father being killed

Agreed on Doom 3! I loved that game. I also thought Riddick Butcher Bay was a lot better than HL2.

Even though they made a mod to let you play it without a headset, I still can't see buying it to see if it works or not, even if it's only $20 now.

I would not play Half-Life Alyx flat screen. The regular VR game is made for people who are playing VR for the first time. So the gameplay is very slow paced and kind of dumbed down.

If it's your first time playing a VR game, or one of the first games you get to play in VR you'll probably love it. It's a very polished VR game, but if you play it for the first time after already playing a ton of other VR games it's kinda underwhelming because the gameplay is so slow and kinda dumbed down and you probably heard a million people hyping it up as the best VR game ever.

I kind of disagree. It still has alot of wow moments. Its also still one of the best looking VR games as well. Plus you have mods withing HL Alyx as well. I am betting the next HL game will be a showcase for the rumored standalone Steam Deck hardware in a VR Headset.

I'm guessing that is the case for the next Half-Life game as well.

But my question for you is, was HLA one of the first VR games you played, or one of the first FPS VR games you played?

To be fair I have not had a chance to test many other FPS VR games. I have played several non FPS VR games.

I have a feeling it's coming!!!!! Upgrade time.

Dude, I can’t even get my head around the possibility of it being true. It would be like two decades of history being rewritten.
Really isn't fair to the Fan Base that waited twenty years+ I just hope the graphics are realistic instead of cartoon like.

I have a feeling that the 20 year anniversary update for HL2 was Valve signaling we are knocking the dust off HL2 and plant the seed and get everyone hyped up for HLX. It all makes sense plus Gabe is loosing weight which tells me he is in a turning point in his life to get going again, the vacation is over Gabe get back to work, counting stacks of money all day isn't as fulfilling making your customers happy !!!!!!!!

only the first 10 people who buy a 5090 will get Half Life 3...

If you bought a 9800XT, you got HL2 included with it. Maybe if you buy an RX 9700XT, you'll get HL3 included with it. :p

Though I don't think we'll see another game for a long time, if ever. I've largely outgrown Valve style games anyways. An FPS that does not have aiming/sights is quite lame these days.
