[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears 2025

99.99% of Newegg's offerings are in garbage combo deals. Newegg sucks just as much as scalpers.
Its frustrating that they seem to be putting every bloody card they get into these combos...but the combos are selling so I guess that's the issue. These are 5K-6K combos that usually come with

ROG Astral 5090 , the main reason people buy
Either Z890 or X870E mobos. Usually these are pretty decent, like the Crosshair / Maximus Hero
32" 4K 240hz OLED monitors, both the WOLED panel and the QD-OLED panel versions that are otherwise equivalent ( I hear these are the new top of the line OLEDs in their size Asus offers?)
Asus Helios case (seems overpriced, no idea how it stacks up to others though)
Strix Gold rated PSU -( one of the big issues. Its not even like they're offering the latest Thor III which is listed specifically to align with Asus NV 5000 series GPU release , but instead an older version of the lower tier hardware at a considerable price)
Ryujin III CPU Cooler ( supposedly decent, has a LCD, but highly overpriced vs others at the 300-ish price listed)
Mouse, Keyboard, Microphone, Headset (all have significant retail pricess that at least seem overpriced but I don't know if any of these are decent much less worth the prices listed)

If they only bundled the card with one of those items and put a moderate discount there, I could see it as reasonable even beneficial for all involved, both Newegg and the buyer. For instance, if they sold a bundle with just the 5090 + 4K OLED I'm sure people would pick that up. Same with the high end motherboard, or if they had a high end PSU etc. However, jamming it all together in a massive bundle with a lot of filler and high prices is disappointing.. I guess the people who are byuing them are figuring they can resell the rest and its better doing that then paying the same 5K+ to a scalper, which means Newegg has no real incentive to do anything diifferent if its selling, sadly.

5080 Tuf and Astral at New Egg I'm going to wait until I get a RGB MSI card not sure how long I have to wait. Someone said Gigabyte makes the best cards this time around. I heard of problems with MSI and Asus but it could have been the driver issue. Coil whine is my biggest drawback for the Asus Tuf card I'm not sure how widespread that issue is. Someone said they had to update the VBIOS to get their MSI Vanguard to work I never did a thing before like that except when EVGA had the Firmware updates on their site.

Update:
Both OOS since 12:00pm

None of the 9070's are MSRP. I'm guessing maybe only some of the stupid-expensive nvidia ones are MSRP, but honestly I haven't been tracking team green in a while.

Correct, just the 5080. At least there is some stock, lol

If I remember correctly only two at NVDA MSRP, the 5070 at $550 and 5080 at $1k.

5080 TUF instock at Amazon but shipping is kinda far off even with my almost expired prime account.

MSI Store has Suprims in stock 5080 but it's bundled with a 1000 watt PSU.

Suprim Liquid was in stock for about a hour or so but sold out.

Feels like we're in a dry patch of 5090 drops. Calm before the storm? There was a rumor that AIBs received a bunch of GB202s last month and that we would be seeing an increase of supply around now.

Zotac had 5090 solid OC drops yesterday and today on their website.
Also 5090 Astral on Asus site today, but right now it is bugged as in stock. Gigabyte ICE today I think, but Amazon is botted hard so impossible. PNY had MSRP yesterday, also botted. Ventus yesterday?
Doesn't include Microcenter which I do not monitor.
So drops happen here and there.
Edit: Probably missed some since I don't look at every noti.

Walmart had two PNY 5090s at the normal 2K price the other morning and I missed it. 🫠

I'll believe it when I see it.

TrackaLacker, NerdSpeak, and Hotstock only alerted me of the PNY drop of which I was too slow to respond to despite looking at my phone and immediately opening the Walmart app when the alert went off. 😢

I'm not going to hold my breath on that rumor. If there is a large batch of GB202s I bet they're going to use them on their workstation cards to get better margins.

Found a guy locally that had the AsRock Steel Legend 9070XT and SL-1000GW PSU combo from newegg he was selling for what he paid. He had tested the 9070XT, but decided to go the Nvidia route. So I picked up the combo for $900 (cost + tax), sold my 4080 Super for $1350 and picked up a 9800X3D with the difference from selling the 4080. My old HX850i is around 8 years old, so about time for a PSU refresh that I was planning to do before long anyway. Performance wise I know the 4080 Super is a bit faster than the 9070XT, but they are pretty close and I think it will be partially offset with getting the X3D cpu, in some titles anyway. Was not about to pay $800+ MSRP for a 9070XT, but since this one was the $660 version, I was good with that.

I’m curious if you’ll find AMD drivers are up to snuff.

Oh I've ran tons of AMD GPU's with at least one card from every generation in the house someplace (Had a 7900XTX before the 4080 Super and ran a 4090 for a while as well this last gen), never had any major issues. My son has a 7900XT since around release and has been problem free as well.

Come on in, the water is fine. AMD has been more stable than NVIDIA for me, recently. I highly recommend everyone check out the 9070 XT if they can get one close to MSRP. Old cards are selling for $$$ so you can do quite well!

The thing about AMD is some people get the strangest and even crippling issues, while others are all good. I don't blame you for swearing off AMD as Nvidia is the safer bet.
Especially if you play older or niche current games. I've had big issues with every amd card I've owned but the x1900xt. Before that my 9700 pro gave me issues. The last one I tried was an r9 290, and returned it. It would take a lot for me to ever consider an ATI/amd card again.

Black screen issues have continued to plague people on the Nvidia side and not running at full speed until a reboot. Biggest thing to remember with new cards is expect more issues regardless of who makes them. Why I always liked to wait a few months before getting a new card, bugs were mostly a thing of the past, but with video cards so hard to get everyone now is stuck trying to get them right away if they want a new card.

Went to Micro Center today on lunch for some thermal paste and they had one 9070 Prime for 669, about 5 Prime 5070s at 549 and several other 5070s at silly prices. I saw 2 5080s but they were 1400+. The rep I chatted with said every morning before the store opens people are still lining up to see if there are any 5090s. They buy them all even the 3k Astrals etc. Seems nuts that people are still crashing the gates each morning weeks into the cycle.

But it does seem like cards below the 5090 are trickling in and not immediately selling out most days.
