Who's d*ck do I got to suck to get a 5090 FE?! :(

Was the 4090 FE ever easy to get?
Yeah, it was frequently available through much of 2023. Not walk in and grab it off the shelf or order it whenever easy, but it definitely did not require using any trackers for most of the year.

Don't be haters:

We've already heard from multiple retailers that initial supply was a fraction of a normal launch. They just don't exist.

Did FE MSRP drop at one point or did you have a coupon? Interesting seeing a 4090 FE that's lower than $1599.

4090s are selling for $3k on ebay. You guys with 4090s might want to sell at market rate now and then buy the 5090 and put $500-$1000 back in your pocket.

I guess they are selling for that much because you can’t buy 4090 or 5090 right now and there is still demand for halo cards. I’d likewise suspect the opportunity window to resell the 4090 cards for that much is going to be only until the 5080 and 5090 cards are in stock commonly, then the 4090 will fall hard to below original MSRP again like a used product should more logically be.

We never going back to normal. Anyone got a 5090 they don't want can hit me up. :sneaky:
Was going to say AI is simply the new crypto. now while this is mainly on the large scale, when your own personal AI is a thing then the 60 series is going to be sparse

I'm still befuddled at the amount of people willing to drop $2k on a video card. I guess, in reality, it's a small percentage of gamers based on Steam surveys. However, the lower end cards don't get near the exposure.

If you are going to get a halo card, launch time is the time to do it. Card generations are getting longer each time and prices are not dropping. They just cut off supply and let the market dry up before the next gen drops. If you are gonna go big, do it early so that you can maximize your enjoyment of the card.

Then again, I got my 3090 strix with ek waterblock in November 2022 for $775 and I barely play games anymore. Maybe I should "upgrade" to a 9070xt just to spite nVidia. I'm sure they'll care.

The entire secondhand GPU market is up about 30%+ the last couple weeks.
Recent cards are selling at or above their MSRP, meaning anyone can upgrade and sell their old card for a profit or break-even. It's going to make getting a new GPU even harder for a while since even people who don't want an upgrade will try to seize the opportunity.

Good on ya. I feel like my 7900xtx handles my 4k monitor just fine, and with VRR I don't care if I hit 240fps anymore. It says over 100fps in all games and is nice and smooth. Really no reason to waste time and effort trying for the halo anymore.

Me too. Managed to get an MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5080 for $1419.99 - but a rep via chat price matched it to Micro Center's non-updated (missing MSI's post-tariff hit from last week or whatever) price of $1229.99. :)

Still too high but I've got a card that should be ready for pickup on 2/19!

For those paying 2k for a card is this for mining or playing games? If it's for games, which ones require those cards?

No one has been mining with gpus since September 2022 when ethereum went proof of stake, unless they have free electricity. Even then, it isn't worth it to get new gpus anymore.

It's not about which ones 'require.' Many just want the best of the generation. Anyone on high refresh 4k displays could benefit from the 5090. My 3090 is showing age with even just Satisfactory, at sub 4k resolution - but I can't justify the cost right now.

What card do you have and what did you spend on it and why did you spend that money? To play what game?

:)

Haha. Every generation. Doesn't matter if cards are $599 for the flagship or $2K.

BTW - HotStock app is great if you want a general sense of release times and want to track a specific card. It is very possible to get an RTX 5080 with it online as a normal human. They have an "AutoBuy" feature as part of the $12/mo sub that may be worth it to you, too. An RTX 5090..well, good luck.

Thankfully I don’t need any cards right now but I’m certainly curious as to how the Radeon launch is going to pan out as far as inventory and or scalping. It’s close enough that anyone in the market for a new card may as well see what happens there before committing. But I suppose if someone is hellbent on a 5080 that may not matter to them.

$1400 for a base model Gigabyte Gaming 5080...lol. And you have to win a lottery to buy it.

It sold out then. The one in stock was the $479 and shipped and sold by Amazon. I wouldn't have linked a $315 scam price.

Still shows in stock for me with a March ship date under Other Sellers on Amazon so the current stock must have sold.
