I find it weird they are letting DF do this. There are many bigger YouTubers out there.
Well they do have nvidia sponsored videos, so I'm not really surprised.

It does pay to sell your soul to nvidia :D:D

CONFIRMED 3090 24GB will cost $1499.

So it's pricey AF.

But the 3080 10GB is only $699.

I'm down for the 3080 as long as it's reasonably fast and available for purchase.

I think of the 3090 as the BMW 7 Series for the people who have to buy the absolute highest tier and the 3080 as the 5 series, a very good vehicle for the rest of us. :p

What evidence? A bunch of people repeating the same rumor that they are on Samsung 8nm? Do you think more people repeating the same rumor makes it more realistic?
Sometimes...yes.

Since this is still the speculation thread, knowing solid details on the 3090, do you guys think that pcie4 will make a difference and will it help a 3950x match or beat a 9900k in some games?

Just wait for the 4950x and Zen3. The IPC gains are what will make a CPU beat another CPU. The PCIE4 is just gravy on top.

4950x + 3090 on X570 will be the fastest combined gaming platform.

The 3090 with 24GB of VRAM? Unless we're talking load times, with absurd settings, and a minimum of 32GB of system RAM and also PCIe 4.0 NVMe, like maybe?

PCIe 4.0 is only twice as fast as PCIe 3.0, and both are still an order of magnitude slower than VRAM (at least).

So pcie speeds are only needed for dynamic memory? Also, I anticipate the 3080ti to be 12GB.

For PCIe bandwidth to make a GPU faster, said GPU has to be dog slow. Otherwise it'd just slow the GPU down.

We're talking about per-frame performance here. Loading performance could make a difference depending on the size of the assets etc., and if a PS5-style streaming solution is in play, it could make a difference there.

To think than just a few years ago people went bitching and crying no one would pay $500+ dlls for a flagship video card, and now its "only $699" in a few years they will be "only $1,500"
:D :D :D :D :p:p:p:p

I think it’s the trust and respect factor. I’m pretty positive Digital Foundry isn’t going to fudge numbers or lie.

Then you have people like this who over paid (CAD) and now are trying to sell the card for $1200 CAD higher than any store (if they had em in stock)

The thing is that Nvidia would need to increase the bus size if they bump the 3080 up to 12GB. That's why the 3080 20GB was gonna be easy, just double up on the memory chips. That got CANCELED.

You see, now that the 6800XT is coming and is faster than the 3080 AND it has 16GB of VRAM, Nvidia has to do something unexpected to compete. Cos 10GB ain't gonna cut it now. If you're slower and you have 6GB less VRAM, that's just a bad look for the Green team.

Totally agree 10gb is joke considering 1080ti has 11gb so really need 20gb card but problem its too close to 3090 hence cancelled it. Need to meet the demand for cards that are out now. Still want to get 3090 since 20gb 3080 is done. Hopefully by next year supply will be there.
