Now that the gtx460 and gtx465 are roughly the same price (~$210), any ideas on which is preferred if heat/noise is not an issue? I'm leaning towards a 465 for slightly better gaming performance and better gpugp performance. Any ideas on which is likely to be the better overclocker?

If you can confirm it's a version that can be unlocked to a 470, would definitely go with a 465 at the same price as a 460.

The 460 will almost surely be a better overclocker and cooler, but won't come close to an unlocked, moderately overclocked 465 in performance.

For gaming alone: GTX 460

For Folding alone: GTX 465

If you do both: GTX 460

460 is a better overclocker for sure. And you want to have one of those 1GB factory overclocked ones like the Palit 460 Sonic Platinum $220 @microcenter

Since that one's over there's a Gigabyte GTX 465 at Newegg for $189.99 after $20 e-blast subscriber discount and $20 MIR with free shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125332

I would go for that over either GTX 460. Its at least $40 cheaper than any GTX 460 1GB and $20 cheaper than a 768MB. Performance sits between those two and power consumption difference at load is a light bulb's wattage. ;) Prices have dropped enough in a few cases to make a GTX 465 worthwhile.

465 sucks unless it is a confirmed unlockable card. 460 all the way otherwise.

Bad generalization. Performance is the same and if the price gets low enough... You can easily OC one (stock - locked) to GTX 470 levels or greater and for $190 that's not bad.
