GTX 780ti coming mid-November.

Interesting card. As usual I'd wait for actual trusted reviews and benchmarks before buying it. I wonder if this means no 760Ti? the x60Ti cards are usually the sweet spot for price vs performance for nvidia.

They said "their fastest enthusiast GPU", the TITAN clearly doesn't fall into that category as it is meant as a "affordable" GPGPU card that just happens to be also good at games.

The titan is a geforce card and is heavily marketed at gamers. The way nvidia presents it is a card that is for gaming and happens to be good at other things. Weather or not we feel it is a card appropriate for a gamer to purchase is not the same as what nvidia thinks. You just need to look at nvidias little titan page to realise just what nvidia believes. No need to speak for nvidia, they speak for themselves through their marketing materials.

780-780Ti-Titan

I think so to as drop the 780GTX back to deal with the 290 as they have notting for it and I'm sure a 770Ti can't take it on .. release a 780GTX Ti with clock speed adjustments to fill the gap with 290x and just leave Titan as is.

Thats wrong.. Actually 780 its pretty similar to TITAN in gaming performance, factory OC'd out of the box perform better than TITAN, and also overclock much better. So cant be 780-780-TITAN, it will be 780-TITAN-780TI as mentioned above talking about history all the TI variations have SMX changes.. So the minimum you could expect for a 780TI its 13SMX. Only that add will make a 780TI perform much better than a TITAN. And that in the worse case scenario.. Mid scenario? A 780TI with 14SMX replacing TITAN, with less compute performance, 3GB memory and higher clocks in torn of 1GHZ mark.. Or the best case scenario fully unlocked 15SMX 780TI with moderated clocks and be able to compete more openly with AMD 290X i do not think that NVIDIA will accept a better performer card for a lower price, they will always will claim for the powerfull card at premium cost.. In any of the scenarios what i really hope its a price drop in the entire 700 series or at least in 770 and 780.. I do not even think it could affect TITAN as its marketed in other side of the history..

In fact they announced the 760TI as a fully rebranded and higher clocked 670 with GPU boost 2.0 and higher boost rates... Also announced the GTX 760 192bits edition no still a launch date.. And it will first just be OEM.

really? I missed that

really? I missed that

yeah well I read somewhere that OEM 760TI will be just reshash 670 same clocked (915MHZ-980MHZ boost). and retail 760TI will be high clocked(1200mhz) with 7GHZ memory speed.. just as the actual 660OEM with lower vRAM(1.5GB) at lower speed (5.8ghz).. but nothing confirmed yet by NVIDIA just said it will be just OEM at first..

Yeah I don't see how they are going to slot a card between the 780 and Titan when there's only like a 7~8% gap there under normal usage (no fp64, 3gb vram). It's got to be faster than Titan.

...and they still don't have a card between 770 and 780''s 15~25% gap.

there has been rumors since a relative long time ago of a possible entry level GK110 labeled as a possible 770TI. with maybe 10SMX (1920 Shaders) more or less This Picture Leaked the last Month. at a price tag more or less of 450-500$ (more likely 450$) other sites mentioned as 780SE.. or 780i. there has been so much kind of names.. the more important thing its the 450$ price tag..

Would that actually be viable ? I mean, if we are taking it to the numbers, let's use a purely unscientific supported example:

100 GK110 dies from a single bake
--------------------------------------------------------------------
10 dies with 15 SMX fully intact for the K6000
20 dies with 14 SMX fully intact for the K20X and TITAN
40 dies with 12 SMX fully intact for the GTX 780 and ?GTX 780Ti?
30 dies with less than 12 SMX intact or not viable

If this was remotely accurate and considering the 770Ti would be a lot popular at probably ~400$, it would require dies from the GK110 that are already expensive to make (internet says 6000$/wafer which holds about 100 die candidates).

I think we should consider the GTX 770 Ti will just be cherry-picked GK104 dies that clock better.

there is zero chance the 770 ti will be gk104. its already pushed to its limits and there is nothing tangible left to make a higher priced sku out of.

Thats Correct.. 680 and 770 are already using fully 8SMX of GK104.. Thats why they only higher performance allowed for the 770 over the 680 was the increased memory speeds and clocks with the help of GPU boost 2.0.. If there will be any possible 770TI it will likely be that lowered GK110 chip and that rummor its kinda popular in the web.. So i really hoping to make it a reality..

As shown in rumors and leaked benchmarks, 290 and 290X will have 512bit. If 780 Ti is 780/titan with unlocked multipliers, it will still support 384-bits so will be just a refinement to current generation nVidia cards

I am curious how fast this will be. If its not faster than the superclocked 780's

whats the point?(other than NVIDIA jacking up the base MSRP to $799-$999?

That's what I'm hoping. I hope it at lest steps on the 780 SC's nuts a bit, like the 660 Ti did on the 660, otherwise what's the point? I'm wondering if I could return my 780 SC and grab the Ti at Microcenter, would be neat.

Actually 512bits its simply Grotesque.. they are maybe trying to do the same as HD7000 Series?. trying to be future proof and guarantee the technology inversions for long time. the 7970 and 7950 was a totally success they no matter how old are still are powerfull.. and I think that are the plan on AMD..

thats exactly the case, following the history all "TI" versions of Nvidia Cards are SMX upgrade counterpart.. 660 are 5SMX enabled, 660TI 7SMX enabled. Actually the 760 are 6SMX Enabled, the announced 760TI are 7SMX Enabled. the 560 was 7SMX, 560TI 8SMX 560TI 448 14SMX. how people can even think that a 780TI wich will be top NVIDIA Enthusiast GPU (as thei said) will be just a high clocked 780?.. seriously no point.. your hopes are good..

Let's hope that's the case, I wouldn't mind a reasonably more powerful card for a marginal price difference.

Already have a Microcenter supervisors blessing that I can trade it in even after the initial 30 day refund/exchange period is over. Now to find out how long it takes Microcenter to actually get these cards in when they're officially released.

Yeah that would amount to... 10% better performance, best case scenario?

Going by leaks, 290X would probably still beat it in most games.

Damn it. I don't want to have to trade in my new 780 for an AMD card to get better performance at that price point (by the way, what IS the price of the 290 and 290x, respectively?). I want my PhysX damn it.

Than keep it. The 780 is a great card. And you'll be happy when G-Sync comes out.

I want to, but if the Ti is a good portion better for near the same price point, I can do a trade in. Not even sure if that's worth it at this point.

They do not have still a price point... There are lot of "leaks" about price but nothing concrete.. The 290X for example have a wide margin from 649$ to 749$.

That'd only be about $100 more (again, if true or near what everyone says), but again, we'll see if the performance is worth the price.

I'm anxious for sure.

These so called leaks are just rumors at this point. I wouldn't go buying or trading a card based on them. Wait for reliable info before deciding. Just my thoughts about it.

Only one person here can say for certain what the performance of the 290x even is!

Too bad that person is locked up in a dark room with the 290x, a new 4k monitor, and a bucket...

:D

Just wait for actual benches to see if you should sit tight on the 780 or dump it.

Maybe they made it more overclocking friendly as well? It could still be one hell of a card if priced well.

I predict rebranded Titan with a pretty giant price cut making Titan owners super full of rage at how much they overpaid for a GFX card.

I'm not singleing you out y0bailey, but why is everybody that doesn't own a Titan, always, automatically, thinks that Titan owners are going to "freak out" when they find out six months later that they overpaid a few hundred buck for their card.

I really don't think anybody that could afford a Titan at launch is going to be crying that much now.

What's the going cost of six months of ePeen anyways? LOL.

When you buy any gpu you take on the risk knowing that sooner or later it will get out performed at some point. The high end buyers probably know this better than anyone. Besides, whatever comes out doesn't make the Titan obsolete to the point their gpu will no longer serve their needs.

That have no prices..

-"Hey i have a new GTX 680SLI im rocking like a boss..!!"

--"oh yeah? i have TITAN SLI card running..;)"

-"Oh God.. :("

--"see ya later:p"

Thats not a risk its the law of the any electronic product.. not matter how powerfull and how much you pay for a new card, the next year will be some more powerfull card...

I think I'll stick with my 780s and just pass on the 780Ti this round. If maxwell has a significant bump in performance, like I hope it will. Then I'll pick up some new cards.

Sometimes I think people get too worked up over hardware :D but hey, this is [H] and we are passionate about our machines!

If the 290x is $550 that will be a great price for a powerful card. I paid $650 each for my 780s on launch day 5 months ago, so I don't feel bad about my purchase at all. People who paid 1k for the Titan in Feb shouldn't feel bad either. Its still the top single chip GPU out there (pending new reviews of course), even if the 290x is trading blows with it, it's not flat out killing it. There is always a price premium to run the best hardware, and it will always be that way.

For sure. One of the top 5 things always floating around my head ironically contains the "is my GPU good enough?" question, especially this time around. I'm eager to see the 290x benchmarks, but at the same time, want to see the 780 Ti before I decide on what to do. Of course, I'd like an 880 as well in a few months...so after rationalizing that last night, I'm feeling better this morning.

I guess we are not gonna see soon a GTX 880, I think that 800 series will out a bit more later than the typical year... Maybe in last 2014 quarter...

Which still isn't really a bad thing. This way we'll be able to sit on our current, already powerful cards in preparation for the new stuff.

Exactly that, i prefer a longer wait for more mature and market prepared for a new launch cards and restate some of their typical pricing business..

I figure we'll start to hear rumors spinning in about Q3 2014. I'm sure most hope for a Q4 2014 release, that would be nice. But it wouldn't surprise me if they delay things until Q1 2015. Either way, I'm holding on to what I've got........for now :D

well.. there are actually rummors with the lower-end models GM107 ES and GM108 ES listed in the newer 331.58.. so the lower end engineering samples are out arround being tested maybe? just guessing..
