They said "their fastest enthusiast GPU", the TITAN clearly doesn't fall into that category as it is meant as a "affordable" GPGPU card that just happens to be also good at games.
780-780Ti-Titan
I think so to as drop the 780GTX back to deal with the 290 as they have notting for it and I'm sure a 770Ti can't take it on .. release a 780GTX Ti with clock speed adjustments to fill the gap with 290x and just leave Titan as is.
Interesting card. As usual I'd wait for actual trusted reviews and benchmarks before buying it. I wonder if this means no 760Ti? the x60Ti cards are usually the sweet spot for price vs performance for nvidia.
really? I missed thatIn fact they announced the 760TI as a fully rebranded and higher clocked 670 with GPU boost 2.0 and higher boost rates... Also announced the GTX 760 192bits edition no still a launch date.. And it will first just be OEM.
really? I missed that
...and they still don't have a card between 770 and 780''s 15~25% gap.
there is zero chance the 770 ti will be gk104. its already pushed to its limits and there is nothing tangible left to make a higher priced sku out of.Would that actually be viable ? I mean, if we are taking it to the numbers, let's use a purely unscientific supported example:
100 GK110 dies from a single bake
--------------------------------------------------------------------
10 dies with 15 SMX fully intact for the K6000
20 dies with 14 SMX fully intact for the K20X and TITAN
40 dies with 12 SMX fully intact for the GTX 780 and ?GTX 780Ti?
30 dies with less than 12 SMX intact or not viable
If this was remotely accurate and considering the 770Ti would be a lot popular at probably ~400$, it would require dies from the GK110 that are already expensive to make (internet says 6000$/wafer which holds about 100 die candidates).
I think we should consider the GTX 770 Ti will just be cherry-picked GK104 dies that clock better.

I am curious how fast this will be. If its not faster than the superclocked 780's
whats the point?(other than NVIDIA jacking up the base MSRP to $799-$999?
As shown in rumors and leaked benchmarks, 290 and 290X will have 512bit. If 780 Ti is 780/titan with unlocked multipliers, it will still support 384-bits so will be just a refinement to current generation nVidia cards
That's what I'm hoping. I hope it at lest steps on the 780 SC's nuts a bit, like the 660 Ti did on the 660, otherwise what's the point? I'm wondering if I could return my 780 SC and grab the Ti at Microcenter, would be neat.
thats exactly the case, following the history all "TI" versions of Nvidia Cards are SMX upgrade counterpart.. 660 are 5SMX enabled, 660TI 7SMX enabled. Actually the 760 are 6SMX Enabled, the announced 760TI are 7SMX Enabled. the 560 was 7SMX, 560TI 8SMX 560TI 448 14SMX. how people can even think that a 780TI wich will be top NVIDIA Enthusiast GPU (as thei said) will be just a high clocked 780?.. seriously no point.. your hopes are good..
780ti will be dead even with Titan in games if those are the specs780ti specs appear

Truly dismal one additional smx active compared to 780. the leaked r9 290x benches today have it as faster than titan, this card is not making up the difference. why even release it ? fail
Damn it. I don't want to have to trade in my new 780 for an AMD card to get better performance at that price point (by the way, what IS the price of the 290 and 290x, respectively?). I want my PhysX damn it.

They do not have still a price point... There are lot of "leaks" about price but nothing concrete.. The 290X for example have a wide margin from 649$ to 749$.

I predict rebranded Titan with a pretty giant price cut making Titan owners super full of rage at how much they overpaid for a GFX card.
What's the going cost of six months of ePeen anyways? LOL.
When you buy any gpu you take on the risk knowing that sooner or later it will get out performed at some point. The high end buyers probably know this better than anyone. Besides, whatever comes out doesn't make the Titan obsolete to the point their gpu will no longer serve their needs.
I think I'll stick with my 780s and just pass on the 780Ti this round. If maxwell has a significant bump in performance, like I hope it will. Then I'll pick up some new cards.
Sometimes I think people get too worked up over hardware but hey, this is [H] and we are passionate about our machines!
If the 290x is $550 that will be a great price for a powerful card. I paid $650 each for my 780s on launch day 5 months ago, so I don't feel bad about my purchase at all. People who paid 1k for the Titan in Feb shouldn't feel bad either. Its still the top single chip GPU out there (pending new reviews of course), even if the 290x is trading blows with it, it's not flat out killing it. There is always a price premium to run the best hardware, and it will always be that way.
For sure. One of the top 5 things always floating around my head ironically contains the "is my GPU good enough?" question, especially this time around. I'm eager to see the 290x benchmarks, but at the same time, want to see the 780 Ti before I decide on what to do. Of course, I'd like an 880 as well in a few months...so after rationalizing that last night, I'm feeling better this morning.
I guess we are not gonna see soon a GTX 880, I think that 800 series will out a bit more later than the typical year... Maybe in last 2014 quarter...
Which still isn't really a bad thing. This way we'll be able to sit on our current, already powerful cards in preparation for the new stuff.

I figure we'll start to hear rumors spinning in about Q3 2014. I'm sure most hope for a Q4 2014 release, that would be nice. But it wouldn't surprise me if they delay things until Q1 2015. Either way, I'm holding on to what I've got........for now
