So I just downgraded from my 780 to a gtx 680 ftw+ 4gb as I'm not gaming to much anymore and I wanted a little extra coin for paint and stuff in the new house. A friend of mine is offering me my old 7970 dual x and $50 for my 680. I know the 7970 is capable of about 1175/1750 over clock which is pretty potent. The 680 does about 1228 without touching voltage, not sure about its memory, but I don't hold out much hope, from what I've seen most 4gb only do about 6600 due to the extra load on memory controller I guess.
My question is should I do it 1gb less memory, but 384 bit bus speed. Both cards put out about the same noise. I had a 670 before that walked all over this 7970 in most game. But it was a binned AMP and did about 1340 on the core and 7200 on the memory. Id guess both cards overclocked are about the same and putting $50 in my pocket is worth it, but figured I'd get some member opinions before i decide.
