GTX 660 SLI or Radeon 7970

I've played around with 660 ti in sli, as well as a 7970. The 660's felt very similar to my 7970 when its oc'd to 1225 mhz, but they were noticeably faster compared to the 7970 at stock clocks. This was on my 5760x1200 setup. I guess what I'm saying is if you get a 7970 that will oc well, that would be my pick over two non-ti 660's.

first off since you have no sig you need to list all your current specs in detail including power supply and resolution you plan to play at. and its been a said a million times that a single high end card is the normally the preferred way to go over a lower end multi card setup.

Well performance wise for 1080p they will both offer quite nice frame rates. It really boils down to if you want the nvidia fxaa and some other features or if you would rather avoid dual card problems and go with the single 7970. Personally I have had no problems with multi card setups but others have told horror stories so I can only give you my own experiences. If you plan on gaming at higher resolutions then the 7970 will probably give a smoother experience but at 1080p it really doesn't matter.

I d always lean towards one single card over two. On the upside you can Xfire later if you need more performance and the next gens are not a large upgrade.

Get the 7970. That is a nice card! You can always CF later if you need that extra push.

Bleh.
Now I almost think I should just save some $$ and get the 7950
So what about GTX 660 TI vs 7950?

very easy choice. HD 7950 boost. go with the sapphire, msi or his cards as they have unlocked voltage. easily overclocks to 1150 -1200 mhz. HD 7950(1100 Mhz) matches HD 7970 Ghz performance.

Given a choice start with a single card, while 2 660s may be better than a 7970 sometimes, scaling across 2 cards in SLI/Crossfire is never a given. In some games they scale poor and even when they do scale well, a lot of people tend to agree that a single card gaming appears more fluid than a competitive dual card offering.

Also starting with a 7970 means you have more headroom for the future if you wish to add some more oomph to your rig's graphical processing prowess.

Single 7970. Although a compelling argument could be made for a single 7950 OC'd like mad but a single 7970 will give you some more headroom.

Also list your system specs in the future. It helps when asking for advice.

IMO, avoid Sapphire cards, they're harder to sell down the road incase you wanna get something new (warranty is void without sales receipt/proof of purchase)

IMO always buy Asus/Gigabyte/MSI cards, as they don't require a proof of purchase to get warranty work
