Hi. I have Gtx 1080 Ti Fe. I bought card in march 2017. However when card is on load and when i put face to my opened case i can feel hot air and weird hot smell. My case is opened always. All protective films are removed. Gpu temps 83-84C. Cpu temps 60C. 6700K no oc. That hot smell is always when i run some game and card is heated. Is this normal or not? Psu is Corsair 750 RM.

Its hard to describe this smell. It not smell like burning or something.
It doesn't exactly smell like a burning smell but, its more of a hot hair dryer smell.

Any ideas?
My case is Centurion Cooler Master 590

I cannot tell you for sure "Nothings wrong", but I dont imagine theres an issue here. A hairdryer is electricity used to heat up metal and blown out the end. Your card is really close to the same thing :)

-I was thinking to ask you about your PSU, but i've read that you use a Corsair RM750,so that's more than fine. (*how many years have you been using it by the way? )
-I suppose that you have double checked the power connectivity between GPU & PSU right? are both, the 6-pin & 8-pin connectivity OK ?

Pretty sure you have nothing to worry about, especially since you said you're putting your face next to it. I can smell and hear a lot of weird things in any PC if I get my head close enough to the internals :D

It could be dust or hair in the card that made it though the dust or mesh filter.

Ah, another good ole :troll: litwicki23 :troll: thread.

My case is opened always.
You are allowing dust and hair and skin cells to go into everything, including the GPU heatsink and fan. And gee whiz... it smells like a... like a... like a hair dryer? You don't say!

Use MSI Afterburner and set up a custom fan profile so the GPU ramps up the fan speed to prevent it from going above 70-72C under normal game load. The smell will be greatly lessened or gone completely due to the lower temperature. I have 2x 1080Ti FEs in SLI and don't have any noticeable smell, but then I use MSI Afterburner so neither GPU temp ever gets over 72C max and I keep my case closed to maximize efficient airflow across the components, including the GPUs. Plus I blow out the system twice a year to remove any accumulated dust. Which reminds me.. I should do that soon - Winter is coming.
