Thought that maybe someone here has run into a similar issue.

I upgraded from a GTX 970 (Best Buy Reference) to GTX 1070 FE. Did a clean install of Windows 10 (using latest USB file from Microsoft), did the updates from Microsoft, and then downloaded the latest driver from nVidia.

The only other things I downloaded was Chrome and Emby Theater (which includes MadVR) and VLC.

This is a HTPC connected to a 4K TV through an AVR.

I configured the Emby Theater client to use MadVR to scale everything to 4k. Problem is that about half of the content I play, cause the BSD crash. Never had that issue with the GTX 970.

My content all plays fine when I use VLC directly.

Is this a hardware issue, driver issue, or a Windows kernel issue?

Open a ticket with NVIDIA. They were surprisingly responsive and helpful when I worked with them last.
