hi all,
why can it take 10 hours for group policy settings to apply?
Is there another way to lessen?
thanks

Do you mean seeing the changes apply after 10 hours or it takes the machine 10 hours upon bootup to apply the changes?

10 hours of idle time while logged in, or the login takes 10 hours and you see Group Policy messages on the screen?

Group Policies typically apply immediately on login and then most can apply periodically after a login. I suspect the latter is what you are seeing. There is a Group Policy setting to define the period for checks after login also.

mlraymond, you haven't gotten many replies because your question it too unrefined. There are a whole host of things which affect the speed of application of group policies. Start here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc787386(v=ws.10).aspx

When you have a more specific question and can provide some more details on the environment and troubleshooting you've already performed, we'll be here to help.
