Which graphics card do I want? Assuming all other things equal, which would net me the best performance in the following games?

Battlefield 2
Oblivion
UT 2004
GTA San Andreas

And the like...those are really the only 3 options available to me. Which should I go with?

TIA! :)

Duh! Of course the 7900GS would be the most powerful.
Well I'd assumed that, but who knows. A 6600GT and a 6800 are similar enough.

So you're sure the 7900GS is the most powerful of the bunch?

7900GS is a great gpu. Once O/Ced you will see 8K+ 05 scores. Pair that with a Core Duo chip, that laptop will fly :)

Actually, I was looking at an Inspiron with a 2GHz Core Duo and this 7900GS. I'm kinda iffy about overclocking a laptop GPU though. How does that work?

Just like any other card. Trust me these cards run very cool and are rated at normal operating temps of around 80-85C. Dell underclocks the card alot. Still at stock it scores around 6700 in 05

I play BF2 @ 1680x1050 on the lappy in my sig (HP nc8430 w/256 x1600)

7900GS > x1600 > 7600GT

with the 7900GS being in a different class then the other two

get the 7900 GS.. when compared to the 7800GTX go(yes the GTX go) they are very similiar in the fact that they both have the same number of pixel pipelines.. as for core speeds.. the 7800 GTX is the winner (not by much).. while the 7900 GS wins in memory speeds, also.. if your talking about a dell laptop.. (e1705) 7900 GS beats the 7800 GTX because of it's newer core and less energy consumption .. the 7800 GTX were reported having heat issues (for the e1705 atleast)..my friend just bought a e1705 w/ 7900 GS.. he gets it in about a week or so.. we've been debating this similiar topic.

The E1705's screen is only 1440x900. I think I should be fine for BF2 and Oblivion even :D

The E1705's defult LCD is 1440-900, but the upgraded true-life screen is 1900-1200 :D

yeah the guys got a turion 64 processor and u have an amd athlon x2 4800+ and 2gb of ram this is probably increasing your 3d mark score considerably
