Grand Theft Auto V

I loaded it up briefly, seamlessly imported my single-player save (I don't play online), and loaded up the game. I did bump up some of the RT, AF, and shadows settings from the RT High preset and I was surprised that it still ran well.

Installed.

120 fps cap, why did they talk about higher framerate support?

Original could already do that. I'm confused.

Looks nice and sharp other than that though, I appreciate having good AA but the old textures do stick out now.

Are the screenshots reverted? RT off looks a lot better. :D

Edit : no the screenshots seem correct... I guess it's a case of RT improving some things and worsening others
Explain. The "off" pictures show shaded areas being too dark or not even affected by the global light sources. Conversely, objects out in the open almost look like they're full bright. RT on fixes both of these major issues.

in the 2nd pic look at the hubcap area of the car and on the motorcycle...way more detailed...I agree that RT lighting can sometimes look fake but it's actually more accurate...RT Global Illumination is the most impactful RT feature

Epic store version (for me anyway) does not have the Enhanced version yet for current owners. Rockstar version does appear to have it.

Weird, I was able to install the enhanced version an hour or two ago off the epic store. Maybe try restarting the epic client?

Interesting. Well i already had it on the rockstar app, so just going that route. Good to know though,

I was partway through a second SP playthrough some months back...maybe I'll install this new edition and keep going.

Cutscenes say 60 fps but they sure don't look like it as it is quite jittery looking. Game itself seems really smooth though.

Those running RTX 30xx/40xx GPUs, what's the best version of driver for GTA 5 Enhanced? The latest hotfix version?

Apparently it's capped at 120 FPS because the game starts to get out of sync above 140 FPS and can completely break above 180.

Yea their engine has that issue in RDR2 as well, I guess too much hassle to fix now.

I would be playing this on the 120hz OLED TV anyway, not the 360hz 1440p monitor, so I guess that's okay.

lookin good

I played for about an hour last night. The hitches are way less frequent (and severe) vs. the stock version. I specifically tried to get the game to bog down in the spots where the stock version does, and it never did.
With DLAA enabled and the view distance maxed it's pretty wild how far away you can read text and see details in things. The only thing that breaks that immersion is that larger vehicles seem to materialize out of thin air beyond a certain distance. Probably a view/detail distance they never intended you to actually have when they made it like 15 years ago. You can play at 120Hz in the stock version, but it's not as smooth. Even when the FPS counters say you're maxed, it doesn't quite look right. This version does. There's a little uncanny valley effect, even. Cutscenes seem to be locked at 60fps, but it's not that disruptive. In the stock version they would sometimes bog down or letterbox 1/2 your screen away. That no longer happens.
The addition of Atmos doesn't seem to add anything that I can tell. At least with surround speakers. Maybe it's meant for headphones. I still feel like the radio volume and the volume for everything else = a bit out of whack. For a free upgrade I'm super, super happy with this, though.

good to hear its on epic. too bad i just reloaded "legacy" and will have to d/l "enhanced" all over again. yay for GB internet!

It's showing as "now available" in Steam for me. Downloading it just to see what's up with the new stuff.
EDIT: It's apparently only a pre-load in spite of that banner. 🤷‍♂️
Thx, I forgot I got an email from Epic about this.
GTA5 was the first game I got from Epic's weeklies giveaways.

So far the game runs great, didn't get very far in the campaign but running on my 4080 super everything maxed at 4k except for RT options which I set to High instead of very high im pulling 110fps indoors and 90-100fps outside.

Looks great imo, I'm actually excited to replay the story, haven't touched it since it came out on the xbox one.

I got this game on launch day for my Xbox 360 and played a crap ton until the PC version came out. I probably did 5% of the story since I would get distracted and just start causing mayhem, lol.
PC is 8% done after a couple hundred hours, but I think I will try and play the story now.

It's way too easy to do that and it wouldn't shock me if most GTA players barely scratched the surface of the game. In all of 'em. GTA5 is one of the more manageable games in the series. It isn't short, but it's way less tedious than 4 and (especially) San Andreas. You don't have to do the MMO type stuff like eat, work out, go bowling, hang out with Roman, etc. etc.

Cant wait to give it a try soon.
Gave up on a new GPU and just put in my backup 4070 Super before those prices went off the charts. Still bests my current 1080 Ti.

Still have yet to play the story. Played whatever requirement opening scene was needed then jumped straight into online lol. I definitely got burned in IV's towards the end, and after S.A.'s...

The story is definitely fun & worth the time spent.

Just driving around… there aren’t enough homeless people.

Running over normal working folks just seems… wrong.

Funny, I am total opposite. I've played through SA and 4 a few times and 5 probably 4-5 times and have NEVER touched the online. I don't even know what it's about.

Go for it! Just don't get wrapped up in achievements or the boring(imo) graffiti hunt stuff.

It looks pretty good for such an old game. Is there RTX global illumination? The lighting looks modern-ish.

Never mind. v572.70 WHQL for GTA V Enhanced is just released.

FYI, for those lucky few with a 5000's series card: A hotfix driver was released today

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 572.75 is based on our latest Game Ready Driver 572.70.

  • [GeForce RTX 5080/5090] Graphics cards may not run at full speeds on system reboot when overclocked [5088034]
  • [GeForce RTX 50 series] GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs crashes with black screen [5120886]

Well, I installed it and fiddled around a bit.

A fun "experiment", butttttt I think I've been playing GTA V Redux for so many years that this just doesn't look impressive to me?

And while my FPS stays shockingly high (100+) at 1440p Very High RT - Man, I can just feel the frame-time issue.

- With G-Sync, running in Fullscreen Window, and having Vsync set to "Half"/60.... Only then does it even begin to feel what I consider "smooth".

For now at least, I'm rolling back to Legacy /w Redux mod....
