Government Seizes BitTorrent Search Engine Domain

*sigh* Can we not get on politics? It just gets people mad and annoyed and, much like the current regular government, devolves to wild accusations and baseless lies.

This is a thread about an article where a government agencies seized domain names where in at least one case no law was being broken, and the agencies are acting out of their jurisdiction. I'm not here to start any kind of flame wars, but how can you avoid politics entering the conversation where government is involved?

Because it's apolitical. These types of policies existed before Obama and unfortunately they still go on. What's more, if it was strictly the typical left right bullshit politics, then people on both sides of the political spectrum wouldn't be in agreement that this action is wrong.

How many Republicans in Washington are raising a stink over this? My guess is that with the possible exception of Ron Paul, there aren't any.

That's the essence of my original point. People forget about these kinds of policies when someone else takes office, and they're even more likely to forget when someone of their liking takes office. Too often people focus on the individual they like or dislike and ignore the fact that once something is enacted into law or otherwise implemented it's extremely difficult to get it reversed. Out of sight, out of mind, as it were. There's news reports not a day old that speak of the overstepping of wiretapping and eavesdropping authority by the Fed, but I have yet to hear anyone in Congress - Democrat OR Republican - express outrage over this and demand it to be corrected. That is what I dislike most about elections. You change the person in office, and some of the overall policies can differ, but the power grabs and erosion of civil liberties never seem to get reversed no matter who is in charge.
