Gotham City Impostors is now Free-to-Play on Steam. The most interesting detail in this change of business model is Monolith/Warner Bros have removed the Games for Windows Live component in favor of Steamworks.

However, the question remains in regards to those having purchased content in the original game whether their DLC will be transferred over to the F2P version of the game.

Now, if only other games could also have GFWL removed...

EDIT: Monolith have adressed the following in regards to those having purchased the previous version of the game:
I'm playing on the PC using Games for Windows LIVE, what does this mean for me?

A lot. Gotham City Impostors on Games for Windows LIVE will no longer be officially supported. So, while you can still play it, we won't be actively watching over it. But, you can use your Games for Windows LIVE CD key to get a special set of rewards, available only to those that played Impostors on the PC in what will soon be known as the “good ’ol days”!

GCI FAQ.

Free is not good enough to have to deal with GFWL...

Mine appears to have carried over to the F2P client. At least according to Steam it has.

lol - I bought this with the main Batman pack in last steam sale, thought it was dlc content for one of the Arkham games. Massive dissapointment when I fired it up and saw what it actually was. By the time I finally got past all the GFWL BS I was too pissed to give the game much of a chance at all. Made it about half-way through the tutorial and decided it wasn't worth my time.

Yeah, this crappy game should have been F2P from the beginning. Can I have my money back now?

That's good news. I raised that particular point because there was somewhat of an uproar on the Interwebs last night in regards to purchased content from the original game.

Do you ask for a refund when something you purchased is later put on sale or reduced in price?

Actually, in many cases, yes, I do, and yes, the vendor gives me the difference back. That's all assuming, of course, that the amount of time hasn't been too long.

In that case I would say you are lucky to be in relation with nice merchants. However, the only reason you are being refunded the difference is because of the vendor's good will; by no means are they obliged, nor are you entitled to being refunded partially or in whole.

Many actually have policies as well on it. Heck, even staples does as a consumer example. So in some cases sure but many, no.

Nevermind, apparently there are 2 separate instances of this game now, one still using GFWL and one using Steamworks.

Anyone know if the Steamworks integration now includes the option for community hosted dedicated servers and a browser?
