Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

can't believe you guys are using this as a PC monitor
I tried it, but decided to keep my 2405FPW for PC and using this as a TV

I thought it might be a little too big at first but after a few hours I knew I never wanted to use anything else for my desktop.

I can play a game and have a full IE window open as well as a word document. All HUGE crisp and clear. I am sitting at work on my crappy 20" Dell LCD and I so wish I was home on my Westy.

yes, please guys!
Photos of your westy's running photoshop and dreamweaver!!

That's the only thing holding me back from buying a 42", I need my pro photo editing.

What's the difference between the W4207 and the LVM-42W2 ?

Is that an Acer 22" next to it, or...? It's muuuuuch dimmer. Beautiful pics! I love how you can play X360 games in PIP  *ready to grab wallet*

Yeah the other monitor is a lot dimmer, and I dont even have the Westy anywhere near its max brightness.!

It is a Viewsonic VP201s, but it is like 3 years old. Goes to show you how the backlight dies over time, because that viewsonic was very BRIGHT when new.

And to put the too big thing to rest on the 37"... it is not I have no trouble at all and im only 3 feet away from the screen.

Pics will be posted tonight possibly showing the Photoshop and Illustrator.

I'll see if I can't get some later for you. I will say though, I have been doing a lot of work in flash on it, and it has been GREAT!

Does anyone know if any of these companies (Cutchfield, Etronics, etc) ship their stuff from the west coast? I'm just wondering because I'd feel a little better if it shipped closer to where I live instead of from across the country.

Etronics and J&R both ship from NY. Crutchfield ships from VA (I think; someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Buy it from NEWEGG.com, they use AIT Worldwide shipping.

I got mine delivered, box in pristine condition.

They will schedule an appointment with you for delivery as well, to make sure you are there to sign for it.

I recommend!

Their non-refundable or replacable policy is scary though. There's always that "What if..." ...an asteroid falls from the heavens and blows up the UPS truck sending my TV to a brutal, metally doom

This plasma is looking nice too, and I can get it west coast :)

The W4207 is 720p, the LVM-42W2 is 1080p. There may be more differences, but I only remember this one off the top of my head.

Native Resolution: 1366 x 768 on the Panny, not very ideal for Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Besides the fact that you can get that res for half the price in LCD. IF you want to work and game on the same screen, the westy 37" or 42" are both excellent choices. (if you want to be sure of color accuracy and all that pick up a spyder2, even the $70 version is enough to get a nice calibration)

I'm pretty sure Crutchfield ships from NY. Shipping to CA took about 8 days.

I just got my Westy in from Newegg via AIT shipping. I cannot be more pleased - no dead pixels, box in perfect condition. Fired up Counterstrike and played for about an hour..... very minimal ghosting and no input lag as far as I can tell. I came from a Samsung 244T to this, and I'm never going back..... anyone interested in buying the 244T? ;)

Just checked my version..... I have a version 1.80?!? Says "VERSION V1. 80".

PM me or post in the for sale forum with a reasonable price and I'll let you know if I'm interested.

yeah, 1366x768 is not enough res for working in windows.. imo. way too limited.. the 1080p sets are really ideal for PCs.. 720p/1080i ok for TV and consoles.

Look what you guys did to me after reading this forum :D

Too bad I can't open it yet. It's my gift to my wife hehe she wanted an LCD TV in our bedroom.

woohoo can't wait to fire this badboy up!

oh btw, got it from Newegg via AIT. ordered Friday came Tuesday ;) I think newegg was late this time I usually get my package during the next day I ordered it hehe Newegg rocks!

so, if I ordered from newegg, and I get something crappy like a blotch of dead pixels, newegg won't help me out? I gotto go to the manufacturer? Do they deal well with that stuff?

Seems like a lot of people here are buying it off newegg and seem to be fine.

newegg won't take it back, I think you have to pay for shipping to Westinghouse.

Thats why I got mine from Crutchfield, they take care of all the hassles for the first 30 days

Does everyone have their Xbox360 hooked up through VGA? I tried 1080p through component today and I got some weird color issues. Just wondering if I could get a better picture than VGA somehow.

Also if anyone has a HD-DVD player for the 360, does it only do 1080p through VGA?

If you were getting a HD-DVD player for the 360, and you also have a pc with a USB port, and a W3 Westy, why would you even hook it up to the 360 for playback...lol? Just use the HD-DVD driver hack, PowerDVD 6.5, and use the HD-DVD player on your PC. ;)

Ya, I guess you are right. My PC is right here. My Westinghouse is plugged up worse than a pornstar in a gang bang. PC to DVI-1, Cablebox to DVI-2, PS3 to HDMI, XBox360 to VGA, Wii to Component-1, and PS2 to Component-2. I should stick something into the RCA inputs.

As far as I know, the Westy does NOT support 1080p through component, you have to use VGA.

I hate this thread.

I can't believe I just pulled the trigger. Come on. I just bought my C2D system and I havvvee to fall upon this thread.

37" from Newegg ordered tonight.

I hope to GOD I dont have any problems, newegg's policy makes me nervous.

Alright I attempted to take some pics of illustrator.

The problem is my crappy camera is not that good....always pics up the dam rainbow effect that u dont see in reality and the screen is just awesomely sharp in reality in photoshop and illustrator... I do graphic design and its awesome. Westy37 RULES!

click the thumbnails for larger views.

Please know that any blur in the pics is the camera itself and not the screen. I will try some pics now with a different camera I have.

Awesome! I'm a web designer too and I also do photography(kinda)

Me too... Hopefully I can help calm your nerves as mine were the same. I just received mine from newegg yesterday. Aside from the fact AIT held on to it for 3 days before they delivered it which kinda pissed me off. But when it did come it was in perfect condition. A few dings on the outside box but still good.

Wow that makes me mad for you. Anyone else have experience with AIT?

What do I do if the box is a little busted anyways? It's not like Newegg will help. Basically, if the box is in cruddy condition, I make a note of it to the driver and if the TV is broken, AIT pays for it?

Those of you that have this display and a PS3, please do us all a favor and contact Sony support to let them know that it has issues with HDMI: http://www.us.playstation.com/Corporate/ContactUs/ConsumerServices

The more people we have contacting them then the greater the chance that they will take some steps to rectify the problem through a firmware update. Here's what I wrote them:

I have a Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display that I use via HDMI connection with my PS3. The problem is that each time I turn on the PS3 and switch to HDMI, the screen constantly blinks unless I turn off my display and turn it on again. There seems to be an HDMI syncing issue between the PS3 and Westinghouse display. Several other Westinghouse LVM-37W3 owners (read: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1088497&page=1&pp=20 and http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=655280) have noted the same issue.

Many of us have contacted Westinghouse support and have been told this is an issue with the Playstation 3. Please keep in mind that this problem does not exist when using a PC via HDMI at 1080p nor does it occur when using your competitors product (Xbox 360) in 1080i/p mode. There are a large number of Westinghouse 1080p customers that have purchased Playstation 3 consoles and have been met with frustration over this issue. I urge Sony to take steps to rectify this issue through a firmware update or system recall.

Thank you.

If the box comes physically damaged just refuse shipment and it will be sent back to the egg and you will be refunded.

My box was perfect condition from AIT and newegg, I guess it was just bad luck for some, or good luck for me.
