Google Makes Its Photo Tools Free To Everyone

If you've put off using Google's photo editing tools because of the $150 price tag, I have good news for you. Not only are the tools free now, anyone that bought the tools in 2016 will get a full refund.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.
 
I'm less excited after I learn you need one of these 4 apps as they are just plugins:
Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperature, Photoshop Elements....

I still use Microsoft Image Composer circa 1998 that was a complementary software with Frontpage 98...

This is a pretty cool move on Google's part, even if it does consist solely of plugins for use with other image processing applications (which I own so that's a non-issue) but I can see where some folks might not think of it as a big thing.
