Google Fi is pioneering Virtual Carrier Network (VNC), a VPN-like structure for cellular connections, but without requiring Google VPN - https://www.gstatic.com/fi/wormhole/whitepaper-a00cc4732620f382da5b7aac2bcb6905f970ba6b.pdf .

I believe it simply because of some insider knowledge about local LEA loving people with Google Accounts because such accounts make it easy for LEA to gather information, but they hate Google Fi cellular service with a passion because it makes it difficult for them to perform live location tracking of their targets. That white paper PDF file explain how and why is it so.

VNC is a cool concept. With the right provider, it could be the next step in making cellular activities more private and providing a secure infrastructure to SS7 protocol.

LEA = ???

Is SS7 used in cellular networks? How is that implementation different from landline networks?"

Is this Google VNC just "marketecture" or is it being deployed? Can iOS devices use this VNC or just Android devices?

Law Enforcement Agencies.

Wouldn't Virtual Carrier Network = VCN and not VNC?

As far as privacy - Google Fi is probably not large enough for Google to have incorporated it into its tooling that exposes data for law enforcement. As the OP stated, Google is the anti-privacy company - give them time, they'll compromise it eventually and the data will be just as available to all (advertisers, government, etc) just like their other core services.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, VNC, my bad.

"google is as google does"

"google does what google wants"

In other words, if you use their services/apps etc, and they feel they have a reason to WANT/need to access your data and/or make it accessible to LEA's and/or 3rd parties, they will, and there aint a whole lot you can do about, it unless you enjoy wasting every single penny you have & decades of your life trying to sue them to fight/nitpick/declassify every single word & line of their EULA's...

Yea you MIGHT win a few small battles along the way, but in the end, they will still have you AND your data by the balls, while you shrivel up in some dark corner somewhere and die in pain & agony :D

Google is like the Mafiosi neighbors when I lived in Brooklyn. Stay as far away from them as possible.
