It's kinda funny that Google is banning porn ads, but they will still display adult dating ads, ads for sex lines, strip clubs and continue to pay pirate sites that run Google ad banners.

Beginning in the coming weeks, we'll no longer accept ads that promote graphic depictions of sexual acts including, but not limited to, hardcore pornography; graphic sexual acts including sex acts such as masturbation; genital, anal, and oral sexual activity.

So they're going to stop running advertisements for primetime television shows as well then?

What if we are using Google to search for porn? Don't we want them to inundate us with graphic advertisements so we know what other crappy adult content sites are out there?

That's going to be a huge hit to Google's pocket book. Now porn networks can't advertise that "Someone in <insert your local city name> wants to get together and f**k tonight!"

I had no idea those were google's. Figured they were some other advertising network. I'm surprised that google actually dealt in this stuff.

Hmm, you should really try NoScript on Firefox (even if you don't use Firefox as your main browser, just to test), you will be quite surprised at what you will find is happening just browsing.

This probably a VERY big dollar amount loss for Google.

Pretty sure Google is banning any advertisement that shows porn (nudity). Porn websites can still advertise, but they just can't show any of the bits and pieces.

We all know Bing does porn better anyways.
Google is beating MS every way but that...

If you say so, it must be true.

The reality is they don't do anything without careful calculation.

I did not say Google wouldn't make money through other sources of revenue derived from this decision. :p

Google is not the only company with the ability to make an educated guess of your location.
