    Kyle's interview with Intel:

Intel: What can you do for Intel
Kyle: I reviewed several AMD CPU's using special TIM from a company called Super Hydro Interconnect Thermals to help prove Intel CPU's run faster and cooler.
Kyle: I slathered all that thick SHIT over the die.
Intel: Nice, but please don't use SHIT on our CPUS. It will void the warranty.
Intel: Visiting your website, I see your using an AMD CPU in your signature.
Kyle: I just pretend to use it, much like Jayz2cents used that test EK water cooled machine.
Intel: I like to continue the Interview, but I have Tee-off in 45min. Your hired.

Hoping this is an elaborate and early April fools joke. This is the only forum I look at every day. Every day meaning dozens of times a day. If it's not, good luck at Intel and your future endeavors.

Darn.. early April Fools? Guess not?

Thank you for all the reviews and content for all these years!
[H] has been a beacon and reference on how to properly do quality hardware reviews.
    Best of luck going forward.

OMG! This place has a separate FORUM? Seriously I did all my replying to the front page. I had no idea this place had an ass-end!

Congratulations Kyle, I hope this brings nothing but good to your world. Thank You for all this.

End of an era. On a side note, I'd bet real money Kyle was hired to help promote Intel's upcoming discrete graphics cards :)

why does HardOCP need to be 'mothballed' for?...even with Kyle gone couldn't the reviews, news etc have continued as is with the same community funded Patreon and with the rest of the current admins like Brent the new defacto owners?

As I said elsewhere, [H] is literally like 1 of about 3 websites that I visit.
Happy for you, but a devastating loss for the rest of us.

    Thanks for the memories...

I've been visiting HardOCP for the past 15 years. I've never built a PC without coming here first and reading reviews of every single piece of hardware I've ever bought. I feel almost like I did when my first kid went to college....just gutted. Good luck to you in your future pursuits. This is just a massive loss for the community.

Congrats to Kyle, but this sucks for the true hardware community, will just make it easier for Intel and the others to hide/lie/cheat.

Maybe the front page can live on with just the pictures with captions. They are quite colorful. And all the money saved by not having any articles connected with the pictures. Oh and of course every picture would have a link or some way to direct readers to the HardForum.

While I agree, one of the great values of the front page news is how it is curated under Kyle's oversight based on his immense insight into the industry. I feel like without it everything will just devolve into an uncurated mess of rumormill stuff. HardOCP is the last remaining PC Hardware News and Review site I trust. There is nothing else left really. Just a bunch of clowns and their YouTube channels, and the shells of former PC News sites now pumping out drivel under their new corporate ownership.

Can anyone mention even one reputable PC Hardware News and Review site left out there today?

This is truly THE END of an era. I guess we have come full circle on the reputable sites being replaced by YouTube clowns. And why not? It's happened everywhere else :(

Nothing on YouTube is reputable. Nothing.

It's almost like they're taking the launch seriously with the army of talent they're building. Not going to be another Intel i740 or whatever it was called back in the day.

It's had to cross someones mind at Intel/AMD...."what if Nvidia starts building CPU's?"

Congrats man. I'm hoping they are tossing bags of money at you.
Thanks for the two decades of work helping your fellow PC nerds!

Not calling this an April fools just yet. I've seen to many WTF partnerships in the IT world to rule anything out, and this one seems like a good fit. You should have been head hunted years ago. But I hope Intel is ready for some honest criticism.

I know right!? I mean, to me it has been 11 years "only" but that is also such a long time of faithful use that I am kinda at loss what site to read and frequent now. I do also watch DigitalFoundry, GNSteve and HUSteve on Youtube but their content are not like HardOCP's.

I do have to raise my hat to Kyle though, for putting HardOCP on ice rather than selling it. This site is one of the last old-guard PC sites, it would be shame if it would become like Toms Hardware after they got sold. >_<

Kyle, I've got to ask how much effect did GPP and especially the NDA mess afterwards had to do with this change of careers?

I know change happens and I enjoyed HardOCP as my go to site for tech news for almost twenty years so which site can be considered a good replacement or heir of [H]'s for unfiltered/unbiased PC news and forums?

EDIT: I just noticed I'm not the only one asking this :(

Dang. I have had 3 jobs over the past 14 years i have been an [H] member. The one constant at all 3 jobs is that i have always a [H]ardocp tab open each day at work. I still go back and read some of the old Doom and Far Cry benchmarks for shits and giggles thinking about my old 9800 pro and 6600gt. Damn good times on here.

This is definitely one of those moves that does not feel real. Kyle, this site has had a significant impact on my choice of hobby, my fondness for tech, and in turn my ability to feed my kids. I almost can't even remember not coming here, it's probably been ~20 years. Best of luck, man. Truely.

Well it was a good run. I've been here for 15 years (I'm not much of a forum guy) and the last 5 every day this was the first web site that was automatically opening in my browser. I'm gutted, cause this is the place where I've read the best reviews, the most honest editorials and the fact this will be going away makes me so freakin' sad.

That being said and out of the way, I wish you good luck Kyle. Be our voice on the top of the mountain and all the best in this amazing endeavor that you are getting into.

    Sad sad day...
