I'm not crying
Its just allergies
No really it is
Good luck and thanks.
Dammit! I've been trying for the past week to find a replacement but I can't seem to find one with the right mix of tech reviews and news that I like!
Long time reader and lurker of the forums. Reading [H] has been part of my daily routine for quite a while now Will be sad to see this go...
I agree with one of the posters above - why would you pick 1 Apr as a start date? That's just mean...
Good luck to you!
No kidding. April fools just isn't the same without [H] to link the best stuff.
Bluesnews is too game focused.
Phoronix is really tightly focused on linux.
Slashdot doesn't have enough tech focus.
Anandtech doesn't really have a news stream
So far I think Hypothermia is my new place to look?
Happy First day Kyle! I hope it goes well.
It would've been really funny if this was all a very bad, but extremely well-executed April Fool's joke. At the end of the day, Kyle posts a big April Fools! and the site resumes tomorrow like nothing ever happened. A part of me is hoping that's the case.
Definitely going to miss the reviews...
It's April Fools! Ice this thing already! (I wish)
Hope all goes well. Hopefully something works out some way, some how to keep this place going. I'll be on board any way I can be.
I was waiting for the front page news about Paul's test rig exploding due to a Seasonic PSU failure. Too obvious, I guess.
Ah well. Back to ProCooling.com.
Hardocp has been my home page for probably 20 years, I visit it almost daily, it has been a staple of tech news and reviews for me for as long as I can remember.
I honestly will be lost without my hardware and gaming news.
I was never really active on the forums but I did frequent it from time to time.
Godspeed Kyle, I'm sure this is a dream job for you, or any of us.
will miss seeing posts of your Orange Camaro.
Hope you/we find a way to keep [H] alive.
I really thought it was a joke. I can't believe Kyle will be working for one of the Big 3 hardware corps.. it seems totally surreal.
I'll add my thanks here to the long and well-deserved list. Like many others, I've been coming to [H] since being old enough to buy and build my own system for college, a long time ago now.
Kyle and crew, thanks for years and years of solid, informed reviews and insights into the industry. I'll parrot what others have been saying in that I'm at a loss as to where to turn next.
Best of luck at Intel. I'll be keeping a keen eye out for your upcoming engagement.
Hey Kyle..Whatever happened to Steve?>
I thought procooling had been dead for years..
Checked out site
Yep, still looks dead
I had a Ratpadz at some point a long long time ago, I know it's pretty much worn smooth in the middle! I wonder if it's still in a box packed away with old gear.
Some drama. Kyle was tight lipped about it, but Steve put his side of the story on his website and Kyle talked about it in GenMay... I don't remember the name of Steve's site, freezer or frozen something something.
Steve was let go for financial reasons, and then had a complete and total hissy bitch fit about it and ranted on his website like a disgruntled employee
thanks for all the reviews and news over the years. hardocp has been my home page for over a decade. will have to find another news site.
I'm feeling like those times when:
-The old school "Computer Shopper" magazine changed from it's huge 1000+ page format to the lean, green form..
- When "boot" magazine changed to Maximum PC.
Kyle, please reconsider
Since we are officially closed now. On the next to last review I did have a connector short and burn up that I had to replace before the Seasonic rereview. It was smokey.
I'm another one that started reading [H] at least once a day for the past 20 years or so. Back then [H] convinced me to buy an ATI All in Wonder 8500, then a few years later an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (939) with a nVidia 6600GT. My days won't be the same having to get news from elsewhere, but at least the forum and community is staying.
Thanks Kyle, and the rest of team [H] for everything you've done and good luck with your new endeavors.
Glad I do not have to pay to get that thing fixed any more!
Ya know I'm starting to remember some of that. It is a drag getting old!!
Man, Kyle's first day. He's probably sitting in HR right now filling out the same information on 40 different forms while the HR intern is droning on about Intel's non-smoking and lunch break policies.
Fellas, keep Kyle in your thoughts today.
I like how you made sure to let us know specifically what your C, D, and E drives are in your sig.
First PlanetAnnihilation, now this? I think I'm going to cry.
Seriously though, I'm going to miss all the great reviews and hardware news. Not looking forward to finding an alternative.
Wishing you all the best, kyle! Show Intel how it's done. ^_^
Truly the end of an age.
And that Sun Moon 8800 was not inexpensive to get fixed either.
If that is all you got, definitely. There was a stretch of about 3 months or so where nothing I was testing survived. Ended up playing all kinds of hell with production schedule. Then there was the test equipment over the years..........
You know your [H]ard as fuck when your Director of Enthusiast Engagement at Intel and rocking a TR in your sig.
Phantom Entertainment wins, it took them 17 years but they won.
I still remember getting my first responses from Kyle and Steve, I felt like I met a celebratory . Man its been rough breaking my daily habbit of nearly 20 years of checking hardocp for news everyday. Sucks but life goes on. You guys impacted a lot of us and help launched a ton of IT careers. =)
I bought my gamecube and games in college and had a blast because of the used stuff on forums. Got a few used video cards I never would afford new.
Met and argued with a ton of folks. Debated amd vs nvidia vs intel epeen fights. Lots of sarcasm that only hardocp understood.
We never discovered aliens with SETI but we discovered each other (lol)
I hope you all the best!
OK, so Kyle just got my account back for me (Thx bud).
Way back in the day I was the very first "supermod" on these forums.
Oh yea....I'm that friggin old.
I KNOW you guys want to see some of the shit I've got on old backup drives.
Memories/mammaries, whatever it takes, right ?
Dig the laptop.
I'm thinking it's probably a IBM thinkpad with a screaming P90.
And Kyle with no gray.....wtf ? and no facial fuzz ?!?
Yes there has always been a *thing* about Hardocp and Hooters.
I have plenty mo pics from other Hooters and different groups of [H]'ers.
and yes, it IS overclockers comparison page.
Thank you Kyle and crew for having created the best damn PC review site on the net. I've followed the [H] for nearly 20 years and I believe I will have a hard time finding product reviews with the same authority. Your PSU reviews in particular were unrivaled.
Those were fun meet-ups for sure. I still very much remember the curly redhead. Once those meets got to like 30 folks, they started getting a bit out of hand...and we were asked to not come back.
Hope you have/had a GREAT 1st Day at work!
Hope you can get 20 years out of Intel as well
Thank you for not going to Nvidia like Koroush Ghazi did.
( LOL just kidding Koroush, I still go to tweakguides.com weekly )
Well damn.... I was sort of hoping Kyle would get on the elevator at Intels volcano lair this morning and hear...
Good Luck Kyle.
[H] Meet Ups have always been fun and full of hardware. Still got pictures from the last one....my buddy won a Gigabyte motherboard by eating like 5 bananas at once. Still give him shit for that. Another friend got a brand new AMD GPU (I think it was the 7970) when it was just released. And then there was the "Kyle's Storage Locker" meet up where he took us to Twin Peaks....good memories.
What I'm saying is, the silver lining of all this is that Kyle knows how to throw a good nerd party, and now he has corporate sponsorship.....so when's that next LAN that's sponsored by Intel?
If he does that he needs to give away the TR. I'm sure I could find a good home for it
