Good way to control case fans

My main issue is I'd love for the case fans to power down when the rig goes to sleep. I'm not really interested in controlling the speeds or anything....just sick of hearing them spin when they don't need to. Right now the only way would be to shut down or hibernate.

Would a fan hub be the easiest way to do it? Power all the fans to the hub which draws from the motherboard case fan header?

I just have my 2 case fans connected in parallel into the single mobo case fan header, no hubs involved (Y-splitter cable) and I haven't had any issues with this config. It's OK to wire 2 fans this way, 3 and more fans may be pushing the current limit on cheaper boards. And on older boards or molex powered fans I guess you'll have to get a fan controller or some kind of switch.
