I've got an older rig, 4790k that my son is running. Currently a GTX670 (the =4= Gig version! :) ) is handling GPU duties.

Looking at the prices of the RX6600's, I think I'll grab one for him.

He's gaming (Fortnite, etc.) on a 1080 screen.

I think he'll definitely see an improvement!

Keep dropping those GPU prices...

I just picked up a 6600 for my spare rig, I think it was like $239 which is not bad. Quite a fast card for the price, I was able to game at 1440p with no problems.

Someone mentioned latest Beta might help with this issue. I think a 6600 should pair nicely. O/C that 4790k as best as you can!

There was another post in Reddit regarding a 4790k and the potential for a 6600...

At 1080p , and a 6600XT, it was only a 20% CPU bottleneck.. and at 1440p it was average 5% bottleneck... so based on that the non-xt 6600 would be slightly less performance with slightly smaller bottleneck..
The 6600 is now the value king.. get it while you can

I have one running on my B550m board with a 5600x, mine is the Sapphire Pulse RX 6600 Lite and it runs fine for me in that rig,

one of the others with a x470 /3700x and the new RX 6700, not so good, card runs fine but 3700x doesn't like it and wants to run at lower clocks speeds and no boosting, ran great with my RTX 3070 in the same system as it should run, have to test it in my B550 system with PCI Express 4 link as to wtf is going on.

I thought the 6500 has the lower PCI-E link. The 6600 is full speed no?

Card is ordered (MSI Mech). 269 and then a 20 rebate, so 249 (plus tax).

been running 4790k with 1060 for years now, and I'm still GPU-limited in most titles. I think I could take a 6600 xt / 3060 without hitting too much of a CPU wall

6600/6600 XT is king for that 1080p $250 - $400 range. RTX 3050 is terrible as it costs as much as a 6600 XT but is much worse, and the 3060 is north of $400 which the 6600XT trades blows with it depending on game for cheaper.

I finally have the Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 up and running, it was $369.99 with all 3 games, and this is driver 22. 8 .2

Guess if you can catch one.

Nice! That's even better. Didn't know the 6700 had dropped in price.
It's not the 6700 XT but new 6700 and the price for $369.99 was released July 11 of this year, it's the only price ever offered on it and has not dropped in price because of the game package of all 3, making it the cheapest new card to get all 3 games free.

Yeah, I was getting 130fps in Apex arenas with an i5-7500 2560x1440p almost all settings on max. Chugged a little in battle royal though (70fps)

I had a ref 5700 that I flashed XT and then it would overclock even more, it was pulling around 220watts, that 6700 is pulling around 150watts as to be a single 8 pin card, I see it as just a replacement, as I sold that RX 5700 which had the two 8 pin connections.

Also, that does not look like my single 8 pin RX 5700 with that graphics score, it would be lucky to break 25,000 and more around 24,000.

thats my 5700 vs your 6700.
mine is oc'd though... maybe ill set it back to stock tonight and get a more accurate comparison, stock vs stock.

edit: stock vs stock

I was more looking at the Physics Score, 5600x vs 5600x , yours seems low because mine is in stock mode on the cpu with just that big azz PA 120 SE on it, ram is cheap Team Force CL 16 3200Mhz and noting over the top.

Also,I do have the RX 6600 now installed on my x470 / 3700x and cpu seems a better after a cmos reset, still got to get windows switched for SAM, did it once before with RX 5700 but I have forgot already lol.

PBO plays a big role and is tempature sensitive
