[*]Change - Blind Melon -- The part in the chorus "keep on dreamin boy, when you stop you know you're gonna die, and right now I don't wanna die" gets me every time. Get the bootleg acoustic version (which is nearly 2x as long as the album version) if you can find it...incredibly beautiful and moving. Tragic that Hoon had to go out the way so many greats do.
Alright, seems I'm coming from a bit different place than most here. My musical tastes are... varied, to say the least. If something isn't your "usual" ... don't knock it until you've tried it.
These aren't in order of preference... or any order, really, save alphabetical. That's how Winamp handed them to me.

I realize it's a long list. The bold songs are the ones I feel most strongly about, though in truth I probably would've bolded more if I didn't think it'd annoy some. I was fairly selective with this list, and truly love many of these albums.
More will be added after I get the rest of my MP3s (all ripped from real, physical CDs save for Radiohead's "In Rainbows" -- how novel!) back on my laptop after this latest reformat.
Just to go through a few:
Nightwish - Angels Fall First
Weird mix, I know.
Tegan and Sara - walking with a ghost, (their voices are amazing).
Couple of Antony and the Johnsons songs do it for me, I Hope There is Someone and Fistful of Love.
Queens of the Stone Age - Queens of the Stone Age - Regular John
Queens of the Stone Age - Queens of the Stone Age - How to Handle a Rope
Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R - In the Fade
Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R - I Think I Lost My Headache
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf - God is in the Radio (Holy shit the instrumental section of this... ~2:50 through to the end.)
There are a few people saying Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Also check out from Jeff Buckley - "Satisfied Mind" (not sure what album it's on)
Wally said:Or, instead, check out from Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah, or Joan Baez - Satified Mind. Much better renditions, in my not-at-all-humble opinion.
Incidentally, did Buckley do any of his own songs?
Massive Attack - Angel
Absolutely amazing song, especially if you've got the sound system to carry it off, though it does make you want to kill someone if you're in a bad mood. The use of it for the west wing season 4 finale was the best use of music in a TV Series I've ever seen. Getting a bit overused in TV though now
