getting images into jpg format from a DVD?

My friends wedding pictures are on a DVD and it plays the pictures like a movie/slideshow when put in. I want to get these pictures off of the DVD and just into regular jpg format. Can this be done?

The files that are on the cd are in a folder called Video_TS and inside are .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files.

I would try VirtualDubMod, with a resize filter (720x540-cubic), and a temporal smoother. You can capture frames from the output, then paste them into the image editing app of your choice.

It depends on your playback software.

I would consider virtualdubmod pretty easy, once you get it set up how you like it. Using the temporal smoother will give you better quality shots than a grab of an actual single frame.
