It was announced on his official Twitter feed on Sunday, with his passing occurring on Saturday. Geoff was best known in the Warhammer tabletop community and StarCraft professional scene. He hosted a regular stream on Twitch playing both, along with other strategy games and a regular talk show discussing various topics in the broader strategy community. He made a regular appearance on TotalBiscuit's Co-Optional podcast, as well. TotalBiscuit was also 33 years old when he lost his battle with cancer, causing many to dub "The 33 Club" after "The 27 Club" that referenced the many musicians in the '60s and '70s who passed away at the age of 27.

The family is not disclosing the cause of his passing, but Geoff was making regular updates on a Staph infection he had contracted in the past few weeks. He made a worrying tweet on July 15 saying that it was going to kill him. The infection had apparently spread to his femoral artery and made its way through his blood stream.

UPDATE: Geoff's Twitter feed was updated with a post stating he died of a pulmonary embolism, not sepsis as originally thought. Geoff had a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), also struggling with a blood clot 6 years ago.
