Has anyone had any experience with generic toner for a Canon LBP612Cdw?

I always treat generic toner as "there be dragons". While it can be fine most of the time, there are always those dodgy toner drums out there that will explode and fill the entire printer with toner dust.

Worked at a hospital a few years ago and we used a 3rd party toner company, had to dump them and go with someone else because started getting toner cartridges that'd explode or dump piles of toner on paper and make a huge mess.

This is what I was going to say. I used to repair printers for a living. I can't tell you how many times simply replacing the junk refurbished / generic toner cartridges fixed the issue with the printer, or how many times such a cartridge actually damaged the printer. They aren't worth using as far as I'm concerned. I rarely ever saw a off brand or refurbished toner cartridge actually make it to running out of toner in the first place. You won't get as many pages out of one as you would an OEM toner cartridge and you'll incur far more trouble with them. In my experience, the savings you get by going with the off brand / refurbished toners is often an illusion.

I too consider generics problematic.
I have had some fortunate combinations of printer-cartridge that worked very well, but once I found one I stuck to it, because a lot of them are just refurbished crap that doesn't even get the proper treatment (all the gears, rollers, photo-drum). They were B&W, too.

Yours is a color unit, and that can get really bad. Powder jumps all over the place, the transfer belt gets cruddy, colors are off...
If you really want to try, at least change all of the cartridges at once and let it calibrate - maybe you'll get lucky. If you do, stock up on that exact make&model of the cartridge and hope the manufacturer is consistent with the type of powder, etc.

I never had issues with generic tone carts from Amazon. When you can get a 2 pack for $25 vs $150 for a OEM one it is not a difficult decision.

HP and Brother printers work just fine with generic toner.

Xerox will only work properly with OEM toner.

I usually buy whatever is cheapest on eBay that are remanufactured... or completely new.

Around $40 for a full set of carts vs a minimum of 4x that amount is fine with me even if I do get a dodgy toner every once in a while.

Never had one "explode" (which really is the seal between the drum and wiper blade going bad which causes a leak) but I have had a few that start streaking when they are getting close to empty.

I’ve had zero issues and I research and buy the toner from reputable sellers. I know I’ve saved thousands this way.

I've been buying toner cartridges for my Brother HL-2070N from Monoprice and haven't had any trouble with them. Before going with Monoprice I had tried one or two from Amazon but they were crap and that was after spending tons of time reading reviews and such.
