General router question.

I have currently 3 computers hooked up to my basic broadband connection.

my roomate uses his for downloading and i use mine for Counter strike most of the time.

but his computer always seems to lag me.. (when he has his turned on it takes 3 minutes for google.com to load

is there anyway to give him a little lesser advantage over the speed that he's getting so i can maintain my high speed and low ping?
 
What kind of router do you have? Chances are if you just have a linksys, dlink, or something like that, they will not be able to control bandwidth. You could however use an old computer as a router by installing ClarkConnect which would then allow you to a set limits like number of kb/s based on ip address.
 
Who27 is right, your going to need to have a router or a layer 3 switch that will be able to do traffic shaping.
