Changes and Fixed Issues in Version 381.89

The following sections list the important changes and the most common issues resolved in this version. This list is only a subset of the total number of changes made in this driver version. The NVIDIA bug number is provided for reference.
  • [Sniper Elite 3]: The game crashes. [1880113]
  • [Notebook][eDP panel]: Blue-screen (code 3B) occurs followe by the Recovery screen during software unbundling process. [1900432]
  • [GeForce GTX 1060]: Blue-screen crash occurs pointing to driver (Nvlddmkm.sys) after the system reboots from sleep mode. [1814559]
  • GPU idling voltage has increased. [1904229]
Outstanding Windows 10 Issues
  • [GeForce Experience]: Driver installation may fail when attempting to perform a driver overinstall. To workaround, perform a clean installation.
  • [SLI][GeForce GTX 1080][Battlefield 1 XP1]: With SLI enabled, corruption appears in the game when switching between full-screen and windowed mode. [1889162]
  • [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti][Mass Effect: Andromeda]: Random memory errors may occur when playing the game. [1887520] [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti][Sid Meirie's Civilization VI][G-Sync/SLI/DirectX 12]: Black corruption appears while entering the in-game menu after skipping the cutscene. [200283322]
  • [GeForce GTX Titan X][Ansel][Ghost Recon Wild lands]: With FXAA enabled from the NVIDIA Control Panel, the application crashes when enabling the in-game Ansel UI. [200283194]
  • Error code 43 appears in the Device Manager after installing the driver with HDMI display connected. [200283276]
  • [Pascal][Notebook]: The display remains blank while over installing the driver, requiring a reboot. [200273603]
  • [GM204, Tom Clancy's The Division Survival DLC] Game crashes, pointing to ntdll.dll when changed to full-screen and to windowed full-screen. [200252894]
  • GM204, ShadowPlay] For Honor silently may crash if the intro video is skipped while instant replay is on. [200247313]
  • [SLI] [GeForce GTX 970M] Level loading may hang in Gears of War 4. [1826307]
That GPU idling voltage increase is an interesting change. Wonder what increase to voltage we will be seeing.

These are Rock solid drivers I was using the set from early March before this display seems more stable with the desktop
anyway....put these on a few USB drives...

I was having trouble with Geforce experience but I decided to uninstall it cause it was Nvidia contol panel crash along with other programs I had installed.

HDR is still borked for those of us on TV's. Nvidia is pointing to MS as the culprit. Either way, if you have a TV with HDR, stick to the 378 series drivers unless you want to disable HDR completely.

netflix app is fucked up again since 378.92. zzzzzzz

What's the issue? I've not had any problems with the Netflix app for a long time. It was updated two days ago so you might want to check that you're on the latest version.

Supposedly the HDR color space for this driver is only borked for your desktop. People are suggesting disabling it by default, but enabling it right before starting an HDR game or movie.
I'll have to give that a shot. The previous driver made all HDR content look like trash.

it makes shit play at sub 10 fps. nothing on my system is out of date, pretty sure this only affects high refresh rate monitors.

Hmmm. My triple monitors are 144Hz and I've never seen that problem ever with the Netflix app. I assume you've removed and reinstalled it?

So, HDR kinda *does* work with these now. You should disable it for your desktop, but if you're about to play an HDR game or watch an HDR movie, just turn it on. My desktop looks like ass, but actual HDR content looks fine now. Clearly they gave each item its own color space.

Woah, really? No wonder Shadow Warrior 2 looked so washed out with HDR on! I'm going to install and try this out very soon!

Also - "Added DTS X and Dolby Atmos support for 5.1.2 speaker configuration." That would explain why certain audio outputs just didn't work with my 5.1.2 setup. This is a really good update for me - providing Nvidia didn't introduce another thousand BSOD causing bugs.

Edit: and under fixed "[Sniper Elite 3]: The game crashes. [1880113]" I was wondering why I couldn't play Sniper Elite 3! For crying out loud Nvidia... At least they finally got around to fixing it.

You could get paid for your troubles, it seems like you found most of the issues lol.

Dolby Atmos is kinda neat, but because it doesn't run permanently in the background, every time you start a new source of audio it takes a second or two to kick in. That alone makes me not want to use it. It's not the end of the world or anything, but since so few things actually use heights (this just simulates it), it's not really necessary to begin with.

NICE. this driver has resolved the flickering texture issue i've been having with The Division. started a couple months back, extremely annoying. glad to have it fixed.

Does this driver support 4K Netflix streaming? Because 381.74 does, although you can only get that driver through WIP atm.

Nah, it doesn't appear to. I think that's a special driver that only comes through Windows Update if you're on the latest Insider Build. Not sure if it's the driver, the Netflix app, or the build itself, but this driver doesn't work with the non-insider version of Windows 10. I have a feeling the next version likely will, though.

This seems like a great driver, but for some reason I can't make Titanfall 2 run at 144Hz. My monitors are set up at 120 in desktop (I don't use 144 for desktop), but in the game profile in Control Panel it's set to run Highest Available refresh rate/. However it's still capped at 120. Wasn't an issue before. Is that something that someone also has here?

You might check the Nvidia forum for details, but I do recall seeing some posts related to people not being able to run at certain refresh rates. I *think* there are work-arounds, too.
