Gears Of War PC Lag??

Ok, I bought this game at its release.
It one of my favorite because it is gorey and I like the run and cover gameplay.

Recently I have been noticing alot of lag though.

It runs smoothly at >40 fps with everything on highest, just every 4-6 seconds the it drops to like 6 fps for about 1 second.

For SP and MP.

It sucks because I cant enjoy the game. Its smooth and beautiful except for this periodical 6 second fps drop.

I tried all medium settings and I got the same result. Then I tried all Low settings and it didnt change.
With the Low setting I was getting like ~100fps and it would still drop down to about 6fps every 6 seconds.
It is so annoying.

I have little to no processes going on in the background, while the game is running.
Is there any fixes or suggestions to fix the lag?

System specs:
Vista x32
Asus M2N-SLI
AMD athlon x2 6000+ dual Core ~3.0Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
3gb of ddr800 ram (2x512mb Kingston/2x1gb G.Skill)
500w thermaltake PSU

Ok. Forget this whole thread. I am an complete idiot.

I reformatted when I got my new HDD a month ago, and I didn't realize I have been gaming on outdated drivers.
I just updated them.
Now it runs as smooth as butter.
