But Cliffy B said only PC Gamers are pirates!:confused:

Do not ask for links or i'll report you to a moderator.

with all these leaks happening so suddenly (not the piracy, but the leak of unrealeased games) I wonder if MS is trying a honey pot type effort to find more pirates for later prosecution or something? maybe all these "leaked" copies have something extra in them that the new ms dashboard will detect and trigger a 360 explosion!!!

We could only hope.

Yes, because he's only been developing games for well over a decade and is completely oblivious to console piracy. When console piracy reaches the proportions of PC piracy you'll see more people talking about it.

how are the console versions getting on the internet before games are released?

Has to go to another party to be produced into the disc format from the master copy. This is the step where most leaks occur.

Review copies are sent out to various media outlets before the release of the game. This allows them to play the game and get a review ready before the game is released and the NDA is lifted. It is generally copies of this review software that hits the torrents. Master copies are usually highly guarded and tracked.

fable 2 too...
its hilarious. JUST THIS MONTH
EVERY big name game has been pirated on the console BEFORE the PC..but I mean it does make sense since they want to release the diff. versions at diff times.

I have double checked and I can confirm it is on Usenet/private torrents.

I'd be careful it's not goat porn. I don't see any proper "scene" releases for GoW2. But maybe it's for real.

All these leaks makes me wish I had an X360. :p

I see no scene release for GoW2 listed in nforce nor has it appeared on any private trackers I have access to, it's certainly not public...mind you the "rumours" about fallout 3 and fable 2 being leaked turned out to be true so it's probably true, just no scene release yet.

By the way...Cliffy B

AH - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We should make a subforum for these little "announcements," since you guys love making them (and what you think is some sort of point) so much.

Bwahahahahaha.....suck shit CliffyB! Maybe I will go get my xbox360 modded so I can revel in not having to pay money for your shitty ass games!

You're a scrub.

Also this game will still sell 5 million plus and put a shitload of money into his pocket, so why you're laughing is beyond me.

These posts are pure attempts at Schadenfreude, and the lameness of it all is mighty hilarious.

Seriously, I get what you guys are trying to do, the point you're trying to prove and all, but really, this has been the case since the PS2/Xbox days. I have a mod chip in my old Xbox, and if I'd wanted to, there wouldn't have been one game I couldn't have played for free same day or before.

The difference here on the 360 is that even though these can be played sans soldering a mod chip in lwith previous console generations, you are almost guaranteed to eventually have the banhammer fall on your console via xbox live if you log it in. Sure, there are people who risk it and don't get caught, or who maybe don't care either way, but the majority of paying customers for the service, of which there are documented millions of us, do not pirate console games.

Additionally, the expected loss due to piracy when you see 3 million sold is chump change. Console piracy is a bigger pain in the ass on the whole, and it's much less widespread than with PC gaming, and thats the whole point of all the bitching and moaning from developers.

I play virtually every console game I buy online, the point behind that being that I play with friends, taking morals completely out of the equation and because of the intrinsic value behind that service and the friends I use it to connect to, I don't pirate.

Here's another little tidbitter for ya, right now, RIGHT FUCKING NOW, there are more than one thousand people pirating the original Gears of War for PC. Sure did suck, according to most PC gamers on this forum, if you read the threads, but it's apparently fun enough to pirate and play, right?

6 pages into the list, there are two people pirating the 360 version. Dead Space, a brand new game, barely 100. Fable 2, a little more alarming at 1500+, but the point here is that no matter how many people pirate a high profile 360 title, easily 10x that number, and thats being conservative, will pirate a PC title.

Spore, 1500 or more, thats one torrent. Crysis Warhead? 2700+ in one torrent.

Oh, and that whole Gears of War 2 torrent, that's a fucking virus.

enjoy.

if these bullshit torrent sites like piratebay got shut down that would help quite a bit for both pc and console piracy. yes people will use alternatives but not nearly the same number will be able to obtain them.

Comparing torrent numbers between PC and console is like comparing apples and oranges.

For a good deal of people with flashed 360s they rely on the person who flashed it for them to hook them up with games as well. Usually this person is a friend, family member, or co worker and sometimes the person providing the games is also getting compensated for providing this service. So that one person who is leeching a 360 game could in essence be providing for two or more people as well.

But with PC games, usually, if the person has a system that can play the game they are competent enough to know how to download and install the game themselves. Since usually the burning of media is not required and therefore costs less to pirate the game over the console version you see higher numbers of downloaders.

This is a broad generalization of course but from my experience its mostly true. I know a lot more people with a modded console of some sort then those with a halfway decent gaming rig.

Im gonna seed that torrent for sure , just because im pissed at what he said (have no modded 360 but I just had one....)

What's "bullshit" about The Pirate Bay, exactly? TBP is usually the first place people -- like, say, Trent Reznor -- go to release free digital goods these days. Believe it or not, torrents have a completely legitimate use.

LOL who likes using Torrents anyways, I always thought thats what Newsgroups are for.

Stop making these threads. EVERY game gets pirated, its not news, and never will be. There really isnt anything to discuss here that hasnt been said in the nine billion other piracy related threads we have already had.

95% of the crap on there is pirated. hopefully ISP's in the US and other countries will ban TPB and other illegal torrent sites completely.

When the french government did that, traffic from their country to TPB actually went up. I guess you want the pirate bay to be more popular than it already is. And its funny you mention TPB, when its not even the largest .torrent distributor (although It had probably the largest tracker), that title goes to mininova.

Just banning the site is going to make more pirates, but I am sure you didn't think of that, and nether do the IP enforcement agencies, which is why their efforts are failing.

Good going pirates, make cliffy B eat his words.

Way to go OP. By quoting my post to say that, did you think it would hurt my feelings or something?

Uh oh! One guy on the [H] hates something I find fun! Better pack it up, because there's no more fun to be had, Somebody, somewhere, has a different opinion than I do!

OH NOES!

Oh and XBL was simply an example I used, not a glowing endorsement for the service. To paraphrase one of your previous thread responses: "XBL is not the topic at hand"

EDIT:

And on the whole usenet thing and GOW2 being available, pics or shens. I'm calling you a liar and calling bullshit. I have absolutely no doubt that it will be pirated, but it's not here yet. You seem to have taken on the task of becoming the piracy pundit for the Hardforum, I don't know why you seem to find it so interesting, but if you aren't advocating Darkfall, you're prattling on about software piracy.

Whats the deal? EVERYTHING gets pirated, always has.
