Gaming controller for both mac and windows laptops?

Is there a gaming controller that works on both a mac and a windows laptop, or would 2 separate controllers have to be purchased?

apparently a 360 pad will work with both. Not sure if it's exactly plug and play on mac though... probably need 3rd party drivers.

I've used a 360 controller, a PS3 controller, and a Wiimote on Mac, Windows and Linux all with success. Aside from the 360 controller on Windows, 3rd party drivers are always required, but they work well in my experience.

Because I feel that moving forward the new controller will be the default profile in new games. Plus, I like that the new controller allows for micro-usb cables that just plug in. No more worrying about if a cord is torn up since the micro usb are so cheap.

Another option is the PS3 controller since it works via bluetooth.
