When some think of gaming chairs bean bags and floor rockers come to mind. I decided my old 1970ish lime green rocker wasn't a good gaming chair. The arms are loose the back is full of gashes and rips and it is very uncomfortable for gaming for long periods of time. Aside from bean bags and floor rockers what are some good gaming chairs? This is going to be used for console gaming so it doesn't have to be office style.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. My most prefered seating for gaming is a sofa, but I neither have the money nor any space in my tiny ass room for a sofa. The bean bags and floor rockers aren't exactly what I'd call classy and don't really fit my style, but some people don't care. Right now I just use an office chair for console gaming, which I also use at my PC. If you don't like bean bags and rockers, I'd say check out some of the chairs at Officemax or somewhere similar and test a few out. Some of them can be pretty comfortable. As for the bean bags and rockers, I see a lot of ugly looking ones. But I'm sure there might be some nicer ones out there too.

hah the bottom one that you linked too, the rocking one, is pretty cool... although im not so sure I'd like the idea of the built in sub vibrating me all the time. guess i'd have to try it out to see. It's decently priced aswell and if the girl came with the chair it'd be a bargain :p

While those chairs might be good, I personally think it's time companies started getting into the realm of "gaming chairs" for real. I mean, every company is seizing upon the opportunity to market/develop something "gamer" style. That's fine, but if you notice, every single one of them is cloning what their competitor is doing. No one is innovating anymore.

Enough ranting. Bottom line is that I can't wait to see a company spearhead this effort to make a line of gaming chairs that are not outrageously expensive.

Gaming chair?? are they high enough to reach the keyboard?

and i wonder how many more games can i get if i just shit on my 1970ish chair :D

Man that first one seems optimum for a race cockpit... A bit expensive though...

I run with a standard office chair and buttkicker... You can get a standalone buttkicker and put it on the floor to get vibrations :)

Yep a la-z-boy with a table next to it for the win. Not only is it for gaming you can sit back in it and relax while watching porn. Set a little table next to it and you can put a drink\hotpocket\remote\wireless controller on it and have a place to put the lotion and a towel for cleanup. Has many options so it doesnt look out of place.

Hahahaha, best response I've read in a long time. Way to hit all the improtant points!

On topic, I bought one of these:

since my tv is on a fairly short stand. This chair is perfect height for a sony xbr on its proprietary stand, and its small enough to be tucked away in the living room closet when I'm not using it. And the cats love it for some reason....

For PC gaming, a nice executive chair is the only way to go. For console, a lazyboy!

On sale for like, 20 bucks, you gotta scrape the fecal matter and stuff off though.

I'm going to have to go with a La-Z-Boy (or la-z-boy clone) style chair with the big poofy arms for console gaming.

For PC gaming, find an office chair that suits you. I've found that sometimes even the cheaper office recliners feel just as good in the long-run as expensive ones, though the expensive ones do have some great features.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I will go with a nice looking La-Z-Boy and that Octane looks really nice. I might pick that up around the holidays.

Oooh, an Aeron...I'd love one of those as soon as I have $700-$800 to spend on a chair.

How does it sit? Ever find that you wish you had a head rest?

I just hauled home a 1970s greenish brown chair (lazy-boy type, not a recliner). Its huge... One of those types of chairs that you sit your ass down in, watch football, and drink a beer (or 12) without getting up. Its just a pain in the ass to pull that thing up to the desk... then try to get out.

How about a bench-seat out of something like a cadillac? Mine are 2-peices, so they arnt much bigger than a regular chair. Some of the newer ones have built in massage, and heated seats from what I hear... 6/8 way power seats, its a good deal for gaming :p.

i would love a new chair, but the one i have is so expensive its not feasible to buy something else :( :(

I sat in the AK octane at BB and it was OK.

Pros: Soft cushions/material, fully adjustable arms (vertical, and horizontal pivot)

Cons: Doesn't rock back so you are stuck in a 90 degree position. Personally, when I'm surfing or waiting for something in game I like to lean back.

As far as the Aeron, it is rediculously ergonomic (and it should be for the price) with almost everything you can think of being adjustable. It also comes in 3 different sizes which is almost unheard of for a chair. They are made of quality materials like titanium and carbon fiber and also comes with a 12 year warranty. Just type "aeron" in google and you'll come up with a bunch of sites. One is www.aerons.com

Not really a computer gaming chair but they are awesome for console games in front of a TV. They arent your normal beanbag chairs. A normal bean bag has tiny particles inside, kind of like packing foam or something. The Foof or Poof chairs have this very thick foam, almost like memory foam, and is very very comfortable! They are a bit expensive, like $100-250 if you buy the real brand and not the cheap ones(I think the link above is of a cheapo, not sure on the quality) depending on the size you get, but they awesome. Im not sure where you can buy them locally, I will ahve to ask my girlfriend where she got hers.

About the AK, that's not good. If I'm stuck at sitting 90 degrees all the time, I'll start having real issues. Literally. Not good for me; need to have a chair that reclines.

The problem with all these Aerons and the like is that no doubt they are good chairs; some of us just don't have that much money to spend at once.

Um, the Octane does rock back, you have to unlock it by pulling out on the height adjust handle. It has a very good lean back with decently stiff springs so that when it is unlocked, you can dtill sit vertical without worrying about it just falling backwards like some chairs.

Well then BB put it together wrong cause I definitely did that (as it is common with most chairs) to try and get it to rock back. If I pushed off the ground with my feet I could get it to go back a little but not much. I hope the springs aren't this stiff.

Can you get it to rock back by just shifting your weight and leaning back?

Yup, as long as it is unlocked. BB couldnt have put that together wrong as that particular part comes as one unit.
