Just got my first HDR a 26.5 LG OLED monitor wasn't sold on it because I never owned one before.
Some game look like entirely new games like Tiny Tinas Wonderland and Deadspace which is much more visable in dark areas without washing out the darks.
I turn down the Nvidia control panels slightly like .80 for the gamma and 50B 45C just to get that glaring white toned down a bit.

For some reason my screenshots in HDR look like garbage they are all washed out wonder if that just happens.

Don't adjust the gamma in the NVCP. If you think the monitor is too dark and/or paper white is too bright then adjust the monitor's settings.

You need a program designed to take HDR screenshots for them to be rendered properly. NVIDIA's screenshot tool built into GeForce Experience can handle HDR screenshots.

There's also auto-HDR which isn't bad on quite a few titles (you can also adjust auto-HDR level with Xbox game bar overlay now too, making others better)

Some are on that list and some aren't, some unlisted games support it and you'll know as soon as you see white text on a black loading screen like right at launch or just about for every game ever. Auto HDR badge doesn't pop up for some of these too, why you can't always depend on that.

The white will be white and that's how you'll know (believe me once you see one that is, you'll know). Or the white will appear gray-ish off-white if not.

These are what I have tagged from my Steam library that support HDR/auto-HDR
