Games Crashing After Intros

hi all.....

most recently Need for Speed Most Wanted...it plays the intro videos then crashes out afterwards - screen is full of coloured blocks (can still hear some sound although garbled) and then the PC reboots.

Same thing happens with Far Cry, and GTA San Andreas crashes out with the same problem but a few minutes after actual gameplay.

I'm running :

2.4GHz AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1024 RAM
64MB Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti4200
Realtek AC97 Audio
Directx9.0c

lol, it probably won't help you much but I had the exact same problem... 7 years ago, on my k6-2 450mhz rig
Reinstalling the mobo drivers solved it...

And your current rig reeeaaally deserves a new video card
