As far as I know if you stick the keys from the Mac or Linux editions into Steam you get all the versions. But I haven't done this in a long time so need confirmation from someone else before trying it.

You are correct about the keys being multi-platform.

Borderlands 1&2 are fav games. I would get the pre-sequel but I've never seen a Steam game with so many red negative reviews on Steam. I keep thinking the game must best fit the $5 Steam Christmas sale bin.
