Nod32 has been on all my machines for the last 4 years ish...with no virus problems whatsoever.

I don't use one, never had a problem.
That sounds pretty interesting. How good is it compared to, say, NOD32, AVG, or Kaspersky? This is what you are looking. You can even try it out for free for two months

I don't use one and I've never had an infection (to my knowledge). Not downloading random crap FTW.
It's true. no reason to wear a condom if you aren't getting jiggy with it.
Ah I missed that link, cool.
As for Symantec, I just want to clarify for the OP and others considering a different AV, that Symantec Corporate is an entirely different product from any Norton named product such as Systemworks. I agree that anything with Norton on the label is a poor choice.
That's like saying no need to wear seatbelts if you're not speeding. It's a completely asinine point of view.
Remember, there's always that other idiot out there. For example, both Asus and Zalman corporate websites were infected with nasty viruses in the past month. And for those saying you got less crap with than without AV installed, you're incorrect, you simply don't know you have all of the crap. Not all viruses are written by script kiddies and pop up saying "omgwtfbbq owned". 99% of the most malicious ones DON'T want you to know you're infected.
Quite simply, I have no respect for the intellect of anyone arguing that you don't need an AV program. Period.
Pics or shens. And you're one in a billion if you do have it, so your advice doesn't apply to most people. Besides, eventually other people will have flying cars too, so you're only safe temporarily. If you can't see that logic you shouldn't be using a computer.it really isn't asinine. if we're talking about cars, I have a flying car, so theres no danger of me hitting other cars. and no, before you say it, I fly below planes so theres no danger there.
Now in terms of anti-virus, it's clear that you are a ignorant and a bit paranoid. Now this is probably because of repeated infections of viruses and spyware you received at such occasions where you were accepting what you THOUGHT was barnyard porn from some website.
and even though the site did have a nice animated gif saying it was virus free, it probably wasn't. But since you found the website using google, you probably assumed that google gave you a virus and now don't trust any site without having your AV running. I completely understand.
now someone with all the latest windows updates, has a good firewall, and who uses the latest version of firefox will not get any virus by simply visiting a legit webpage. If you knew more about how software components interact with windows, you'd realize that nod32 throws a hissy fit at things that aren't even close to being viruses.
but hey if I was making an antivirus program I'd probably do that too, since users LOVE to see a nice fat list of POTENTIAL threats being deleted from their computer. it just makes their day, as I'm sure it makes your day and reinforces your delusional outlook that everything on the internet is out to get you. ugh...
