While is has been widely reported that HBO suffered hacks recently that did contain scripts and data about its programming, it has been verified now that season 7 episode 4 "The Spoils of War" is out in the torrent community. However this episode was not part of that hack, be seemingly has come from an HBO partner out of India.

It seems the episode leaked from Star India, one of HBO’s international network partners, which receives episodes in advance of air. (There’s apparently a watermark on the video which outs Star India as the source).

In theory, Star India could have been separately hacked by the same person who infiltrated HBO. But content slipping out from HBO’s outside distributors has occurred in the past and HBO believes this is more like those previous situations (in season 5, for example, overseas vendors were apparently to blame after clips from a couple upcoming episodes leaked online).

Seems to be a lower quality ~480, good audio, with a timestamp on it. Despite sites having the entire season leaked with pictures from every shoot put in chronological order, these leaks seem to be unavoidable with the massive worldwide audience (combine the numbers of paying customers and illegally watching individuals and they are staggering.) For such a short season in 7, having a single episode leak is a pretty big deal.

I wonder if HBO would ever play with the idea of Releasing the whole season at once? I bet they're still doing VFX work halfway into the airing of the season on the last episodes anyways. Did they make the young pope available day 1 or was that because it had already aired in Europe?

It's a pitty too, this is the episode that most of the GOT fans have waited the entire series to see. . .

I think HBO is hoping people with subscribe to their service and not cancel it. For me, they don't really have enough content I care about the keep my subscription. I basically subscribe, watch it, then cancel. Did the same thing with Starz to watch American Gods. So if they released them all at once, I wonder if that would hurt their chances of people doing what I'm doing?
With a service like Netflix, they have a lot more content so I find it a good value to subscribe to it. Heck, my family probably watches 90% of their TV content from Netflix. Hard to imagine that 8-9 years ago they were still just mailing out discs to your house!

i dont get the appeal of this show.. i mean that "mother of dragons" girl is such an ugly little thing

As much as I love GoT -- I'm willing to wait for a good 1080p rip to show up online

Or, if you're an HBO Go Subscriber, waiting 12 hours after the premier because their god damn servers are garbage and you don't wanna sit through a steaming pile of buffering dog shit.

woof, I'm salty (n)

I'm a go subscriber, i've watched every single episode this season around 8:15-8:30pm, and not a single problem.

Had friends try to watch at 8 on the dot, and they always have problems. When it hits 8, have a beer and chill for a few minutes, then start your stream. No buffering at all.(although the PQ is pretty shit)

I wish more people would subscribe to HBO. They make the best television by a substantial margin (twin peaks aside). Having a lineup that doesn't start and stop on Sunday nights would be more impact-full than all the average movies Netflix is pumping out. There's something powerful in the suspense of waiting a week for your next fix that you can't get through binge watching or a movie. The first season of True Detective creating a wildfire on the internet between episodes made that show such an unforgettable experience. Having an everything but porn cable deal through Comcast gives me a million channels, but I'd rather just get more HBO shows and pay more for this one channel, since the hundred million illegal viewers probably aren't going to chip in a dime.

IMO she looks good naked...not great but certainly good enough that Id do her...

EDIT: And yes that show is just stupid. Just as stupid as the books.

I bet 5 bucks this low-res leak was intentional to track torrent users. They already know their show will be pirated, so they have nothing to lose by letting a low-res version leak out.

I just do this crazy thing called pay for the content I consume. I know, I know, it’s crazy.

GoT has been the most torrented show for 7 years, I'll take that bet. ;)
Just go ahead and send that $5 to the hardocp patreon.

Lol no.

Seriously, the torrents are up 10-20 minutes after the episode airs. There's no reason for them to 'leak' an early cut, they already have their trackers in any of the thousands of available torrents.

My post was more facetious than anything. The fact is that the entities like the MPAA, HBO, and others have been absolutely insane in their thinking towards piracy and how to combat it. Although what I suggested was a bit crazy, I would not put it past them as yet another tactic they might use.

Gives me something to look forward to each Sunday night. Even if it was full 1080 I'd still just wait and watch it with my wife when it airs normally.

I tried to subscribe to HBO Go/Now, whichever it is for non cable subscribers, and I couldn't. Kept giving me errors on my address, they said I didn't live in the US. I disagree with them as I have lived in the almost dead center of the US for all of my life lol. I do buy the Blu-Ray sets when they are released. I refuse to subscribe to cable TV as I don't need 47 ESPN channels, then get to pay more for the 1 channel I actually want to watch.

I wait to see GoT when everything is on DVDs. So I can skip all the climaxes and binge watch at leasure.

I wonder what's going to happen next year, the week after GoT concludes. Their upcoming replacement series just don't really appeal to me that much.

I wonder how many people say they don't do it but did it with this ? lol

Hypocrites

I'll just wait and watch it tomorrow night on my TV. I pay for the movie channels so I don't have to be bothered with torrents, grainy video, and illegal activity. I also enjoy going to the movies to watch movies, especially at the drive in where it's 6 bucks a car load for 2 first run movies and my own refreshments at a fraction of the regular theater prices.

For me, HBO's biggest problem is the HBO NOW app fucking sucks. The inability to add a series/season to my Watchlist is retarded. I've never seen an app lose track of my place in an episode or movie so many times either. I've also had the app play me the wrong frigging episode as (The New Pope played me episode 6 before episode 5... because episode 6 had just come out).

For $15 a month is just pisses me off, so I cancel it right after watching shows I want to see.

I have one of those disc players. It has not worked since I unplugged a few years ago debugging some hardware fault. I could plug it back in, but why?

I have all of GoT on my hardrive, and backed up, on to a USB hardrive. The bay will have it just after midnight PST. LOL Pirate bay still cranking out the torrents after all these years.
