Gambler Hits $1.4M Jackpot, Casino Says Bingo Machine “Malfunctioned”

now you can't even sue them for abusing pharmaceutical patents, and there is no way any trade penalty be imposed on them with the current leftist hysteria of colonial victimization.
if i'm a Native Indian leader, i would use this opportunity to set up international banking in our lands to take away some business away from those Caribbean islands. Hell, i would even allow a tax free status on luxury goods registered here.
I'll just call all these measures as payback for the genocide that occurred a few hundred years ago. No one would dare complain.

... This appears to be the casino claiming malfunction and hiding behind the "no payout on machine malfunction" disclaimer...
As I read it the main issue is that the case was a dismissal because of their legal immunity.
... and it's obvious that there was a malfunction. Any "win" is defined as a malfunction...

Funny how these stories rarely involve a casino paying out after claiming the machine malfunctioned when it said "No Win".
Their claim is "No Payout on malfunction". Doesn't matter if there should be a payout or not...

Guy scammed by an Indian casino.... Shocker.
After my experiences I would never set foot in one of those places, let alone tribal land.
Not the first to get scammed there.
Even some 200 years ago the natives got scammed by the US government...

All the casinos have the no payout due to malfunction clause, however in this case what bothers me is they didnt have to prove the machine actually malfunctioned. The feds simply shielded them from the lawsuit entirely. That pretty much tells me they are scamming the guy. We have a bunch of indian casinos in Michigan, I rarely go there to be honest as they have no real specific payout % and the sign on the door pretty much tells you that tribal laws and regulations are in effect there. They only real positive to them is they are smaller venues and tend to treat you pretty decent if you have a record of staying there once or twice.

I just have one question. When you see pollution, do you shed a tear?

You mean, Espera Oscar de Corti? Who changed his name to Iron Eyes Cody?
The guy was of only Italian lineage and later claimed to be Indian for an acting career.
Reminds me of a Rachel Dolezal.

No tears here.

I think you missed Dead Parrot point. If somebody wins a large amount you hear how the unit had a problem and they don't have to pay out. However you never hear that for 5 weeks a unit never paid out because it was broken and would never allow for a winning spin. Units are never found to be broken when they are in favor of the house, only when they are in favor of the person.

The feds shielded them because they "have to". Law states that anything that happens in tribal areas involving members of the tribe are not handled by federal regulations but are handled by the tribe. Basically think of it as tribal land not being part of the USA so our laws don't apply to them just like US laws don't pertain to Mexico.

You should try living in a town where the only big bringer of money is the Indian casino. The town suffers because all of the money the casino brings in stays in the casino, not schools, roads, police, or anything else the town needs. Place brings in 5k-10k people a day on average, and we have 5 police officers. Its a shame.

I smell another supreme court case coming... ;)

Doubtful but it would be nice to get rid of this immunity shit.

EDIT: Damn...apparently the supreme court was stupid enough to uphold it. Oh well...

Nope, I’m far enough away from my ancestors tribal land that I just throw trash on the ground too. You know cause I’m an american ;)

I mean, i feel bad... but really i don't. If you are dumb enough to go to those hellholes, you don't deserve money.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in any of these articles... Is there a MAXIMUM PAYOUT listed on the machine itself? This happened awhile ago and the machine listed a number like $12,000 maximum payout when the women received a million dollar payout... Was this a progressive machine or something?

You mean the immigrants got scammed, kinda hard to claim your people have been on the land since Europa split when they were traced to middle eastern heritage. Along with potentially being the second set of immigrants to cross the land bridge and slaughtered the first group that crossed over

I realize your joking but in general this is how I respond to people sympathizing with "natives": F**K that shit. The tribes got conquered plain and simple. I am really tired of hearing them bitch and whine about how our ancestors stole their land etc. So what? You lost. Deal with it and move on. The way I see it the winning side didnt have to give you jack shit but we did. Bonus for you. Though it has done nothing but cause us a pita since. Plus you werent here first anyway (potentially) and if there were other people here before you...what did you do to them? Oh right you conquered them. Did you put them on reservations? No you probably killed them. Now whos nicer?

What the fuck are you talking about? When was the last time you cracked a history book?

What "war" did the tribes lose...are you referring to the various treaties the US government made with the sovereign tribal nations?

I remember this commercial. And it is completely correct. people don't give a shit and they litter all the time and dont give it a second thought. Personally, I hate all littering. Throw trash in an appropriate location. I am now 45, and it wont be getting any better. Our kids are going to grow up in a world that will be just like HELL.

Boy have you got some reading to do. Not even considering the wars before the revolutionary war (which was also fought with and against Indians) youve got the following to read up on:

Black Hawk War
Creek War
Second Seminole War
Cayuse War
Nez Perce War
Navajo War
Dakota War

And those are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Like it or not there has been a long history of this nation (and our colonial predecessors - be they Brits, Spanish, French etc) of invading and killing off the "natives". Just like the "natives" did to any "First" people.

To think otherwise is just foolish. What did you think all of those things our soldiers were doing back then? Politely asking them to leave their lands?

Gotta love IGRA and tribal soverign immunity laws!

A judge dismissed the suit after the casino claimed it was shielded by tribal immunity provisions in federal law, and the Supreme Court agreed. There was no evidence that the gambling was illegal, the justices said, and Rape had no way to win the case.

Well, if those were off the "top of your head" then you need to look them up because they pretty much indicate you don't know what the fuck you're talking about...

as for what soldiers were doing back then, sometimes they were enforcing treaties that weren't entered into with all the people they impacted, sometimes they were taking over territory that weren't included in the treaties, and in general violating treaties that Congress had entered into with various tribal nations, which is why people argue that lands were "stolen" from natives.

I'm make sure an electrical "malfunction" burned down the casino.
What a stupid thing to say. Since most of these casinos are open 24 hours a day, you are looking at multiple attempted murder charges here, or worse if anybody dies.

This is the part you relentlessly go to the media about...

Wouldn't work. The media generally hates the white man and loves it whenever native americans can stick it to him. They'd be more likely to investigate Mr. Rape's background and throw a "breaking news" conference if they found out he was pulled over for a brake light being out.

How about you explain why you think they dont qualify as wars. Because to everyone else they do...

I agree with Bill Nye that gambling is a tax on those who can't do math.

tribal immunity laws are complete bullshit. Crappy kangaroo courts with no recourse is a perversion of justice. The fact that there's no federal oversight means they operate outside the law.

It's sovereign territory. Don't want to do business where you're not covered by US courts, don't go there.

And WTF is that guy's name...did he change it, or is that an actual family name? Because if the latter, why the F wouldn't you have changed that long ago. How often does his resume just get automatically dropped by HR filters, I wonder. Even in person, I would do a double take when he introduces himself.

There's a few commercial casinos around here, and a lot of casinos on Indian Reservations. A lot of the reservation casinos has a minimum age of 18...and way back then, I never went just because of the horror stories of people getting scammed. Jerry is a testament that nothing has changed.
