G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1600 - $74.99

i have this G.SKILL RipjawsX (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 CL7, which is on sale right now for $79.99. i've been very happy with it. a decent alternative to the 1600 CL9 deal given in the OP.


I was considering that but I ended up going with the set posted in the OP because of this Sandy Bridge memory analysis that suggested that more bandwidth is better than lower latency for most people:

yep that makes sense. mine run at 1600 CL9 just fine, my guess is these two products are actually the same ram just with different heatspreaders (purely speculation). i prefer the black heatspreaders :D
 
Higher CAS at higher speed is usually better because equivalent latencies increase with increasing clock speed. Hence, CAS 9 1600 is ~same latency as CAS 7 1333, but with more bandwidth.
