FX 9590 Facts I have one

I love my Delta Mega Fast fan, but it sure is loud even @5V. @12V loud doesn't quite cover it. Thank god my computer is in a cabinet, deadens the noise quite a bit.

I have some of those for benching and yeah they work but man the ears pay the price.

Sigh. :( Well, I received the new recertified 2TB Seagate hard drive and it is no good either. I try running a extended test of the drive and it never gets started, it just sits there at random testing but does nothing. 4th time is a charm maybe?

Oh well, at least the new fans are good to go.

This seems to happen an awful lot any more. I hope they're covering the shipping this time.

Got up to a bit more nonsense on the weekend

Thanks buddy, just doing some prep work for a competition coming in a couple weeks.

Johan45, the problem with looking at those results causes a temptation to buy stuff I do not need to well up! :D Great job, wish I would have gone with the Asus board 3 years ago. Oh well, I am content, just always wanting to try more.

The Asrock 990FX Professional board is on sale here for $115 used. Is that any better than the Asrock 990FX Extreme 9 I am using at home?

start getting some better stuff, so you can go extra faster and stable.....
so you wont have Temptation as you have, Brother :)

Damn shame they couldn't sell those things clocked like that stock.
I read something awhile ago that said that was the original intent but it didn't
pan out.

Short answer probaly not. Asrock has a habit of using doublers on their phases an I think both boards are pretty much the same. That was using LN2 as well. even Eagles cooling with the SS isn't going to catch that.

You're right that was their intent to make up for the long pipelines but the heat and power got in the way

That looks great bud, smaller than I imagined too.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Eagle. My wife is going to watch via livestream. That is making me a bit nervous, all the people watching me.

Ya Man you will do it Excellent!
You will Be the Next FX Star of OC!

:)

You guys fucking rock! Keep the thread going. And Johan please post picks of the comp in a couple weeks! If you make another thread pm me :) One thing is for certain at least for me. The FX line has been some of the most fun I have ever had overclocking. Jumping from a 6350 @4.6ghz with a cheapo 980 board to a 8350 @5ghz with a 990fx board was more fun than it was expensive. I am tempted to buy some better cooling because it is stable at faster speeds with a slight voltage bump (sitting at 1.428 right now) but just the slightest bump up makes my temps unreasonable. Which is funny because where it is at right now is better than reasonable :?

Thanks thinker
Oh man cooling makes all the difference. I think Eagle might have a slightly used SS unit for sale He he.
I'm definitely taking pics while I'm there and I can post a few here. Shouldn't be a problem.

Can't wait, I hope you have as much fun with it as I have. I have had to help others with overclocking before and never get as good of results. I think when you are having fun with it you do a better job. You guys are killing it!

Damn, sorry to here that your plans were spoiled by that discharge. Sounds like a hell of a fun time though. Nice job with the loot.

Wow very cool. Might have to play with some overclocking on mine now, getting the itch again after seeing this

Look what Im having made right now to stay cool and calm, yes it's a Single Stage Phase Change

I use an air conditioned case which works well, especially with the r9-290. Been running 2yrs straight. :)

durquavian:

I have seen those long time ago what you have, how cool is it in temp. ?

Built mine, redneck at its best. Can get as low 17-19C. Best part is no dust and can run fans 100% if need be because noise is not an issue. Also why I can actually use the Delta megafast fan, they are loud.

are you Intel or AMD

AMD all the way Very Cool same here always AMD !!! :)
your name has to be Armenian? YES

No I am an American redneck, hence the air conditioned case. The name is one I came up with years ago, for a game lol.

I love my AMDs and how fun they are to play with. After playing with other AMDs and Intels I find I appreciate this CPU more.

You said it all right there. Most AMD guys who try the Intel get bored within a few hours. They either clock or they don't there's nor "tweaking" to be had. You have a leeway of about 5 on the FSB with the new ones. They're fast just no fun.:D

Not entirely true, there is tweaking involved. FSB overclocking is long dead anyways. I overclocked my 3770k. I found it to be more difficult than overclocking my FX, at least in the terms of getting a high memory speed and high clock speed.

I think this thread is turning into a AMD Cult meeting.

FSB OCing is awesome on the FX, my 8350 anyway. Takes alot of balance FSB OCing keeping temps in check, which FSB makes easier over Multi on my CPU, Ram speeds matching up CPU-NB and finding that max stable HT. Intels may be more difficult to hone in but AMD has a tremendous range and variety, hence why alot of users love em.

And what's wrong with users grouping any sharing their enjoyment and experiences?

I know, I just found the tweaking to be limited especially where memory is concerned. You can try different straps but sometimes you just can't hit that sweetspot. If you know what I mean. Either way, I always enjoy pushing my AMD more than my Intels.

very well said J45, it's more fun with AMD than Intel, Intel is great for Intel people.
AMD for OC there a lot more fun and much much easier than OC Intel, my oipinion.
:)

It certainly is Eagle. I've been messing with some old socket 775 intels the last little bit and they're a bit more fun with the 500+ FSB, the memory straps are just a pain and my crappy DDR2 is cutting me short. It just won't run past 1100 but I'm sure the chip has more in it.

I bought a new LD phase change, its new in the box: never hooked up

I will send it to you, pay small payments im knocking off 300.may be more.

I have a bigger unit custom made in progress now........

:)

That's tempting Eagle. I'm sure shipping would be crazy on that thing from Cali to Ontario.
