Future Of Self-Driving Cars?

Just designated driver?
But wait, there's so much more:
Drop off/pick up laundry, groceries, take out
Takes itself to get an oil change
Picks you up from the airport (parking fees will be a thing of the past), picks up your in laws from the airport.
Etc.

Get a Self-Driving car and quickly find yourself more despised than Google-Glassers...

This will happen and it will revolutionize transportation. Changing the culture and the law will take longer than getting the tech right.

I want this to work but I have a lot of skepticism. C'mon, does the dog have to have a drivers license if the car takes him to the park?

Why? This allows you to pay more attention to other people. I think you totally misunderstand why no one likes a glasshole. Wearing Google Glass is like staring at your phone constantly and not paying attention to anything else.

I'm perfectly ok with self-driving cars, provided they follow all of the driving laws and are reasonably fault free. Because that leaves me totally free to exploit their rule-following to get ahead of them. And it also eliminate 50% of the worst drivers, the half who don't want to be driving at all. It doesn't solve the 50% that think they're god personified but we can't have everything.

I own a garage so I can go outside to get into my car.

"That's not how this works! That's not how any of this works!"

Good man, this is likely to be the case.
We will also start to see global standards adopted and modified for approving autonomous systems on our roads.
I am not sure if it will be a municipal level, but definitely federal.

Smart Cars for everyday drivers, something I can get behind any day!

I hear Apple is making a smart car, I wonder if it will have Windows? /exitisthatway

Tesla rocks

Elon musk is supported by several billionaires and will change the way we live in the future. Now only if i invested 100k back in Feb 2016 during the gas prices were at a all time low and tesla stock droped to 150 a share. I would have doubled my money in 3 months

A world where all self driving cars will be doing the speed limit and obeying all traffic signs.

It will indeed be a slow world, but nobody will notice cause they'll all be on their phones anyways.

or watching porn on those big tesla screens

I know what you mean. I mean dogs are already figuring out how to ride the bus ( ), so yea, I could totally see a dog asking a car to take it to the park.

God that thing is slow..I can be out of my garage, down my driveway and a mile down the road in the time that thing took just to get out of the garage.

Yes but you could've read this entire thread in that time ^_^

Sure, and they will build cities based around ease of access for the Segway. They actually said that when the Segway hit the market.

I think the point is for the car to start doing that while you're doing something that is critical to save mankind... like taking a dump before going going to rally for Bernie Sanders or something like that.

It is slow but I imagine it gets better over time. Though I imagine they will have their limits in order to stop it's chances of running over Joey McShitDisturber, who is 4 - 29 years of age and likes to run to your driveway, lick the concrete because his parents haven't taught him any better.

I don't think people will pay the premium for a self-driving car. It's not free or couple hundred bucks.
